We scheduled a blind consultation with them twice. The first time, they no-showed on us. We had to follow up multiple times to get something rescheduled. The second time, they didn't arrive within our scheduled window and didn't provide any notice they were running late. Instead, we called to confirm they were still coming only to learn that they were apparently running 30-40 minutes late. The later time didn't work for us and we had lost interest in starting the process again with this company. I understand that things happen but some proactive communication would have been appreciated. We spoke with Mr. Kugler about the situation and he explained to us what occurred on his end. We ultimately decided to move in another direction, but we do appreciate him contacting us, explaining things, and offering to rectify the situation.
Mr.Kugler went out to Mrs.Krankings home on 5/27/21. He left her an estimate in which she told him she would get back in touch with him. She called and said she wanted to do business with our company. However, she wanted a reduced price. The subtotal before tax was $7,850.00 in which she was charged the correct Maryland Sales Tax of $471.00 and after installation the total came to $8,746.00. She was given a considerable discount lowering the price to $7,500.00. The shades were exactly what she was shown and they were custom made to her windows. As per our contract custom orders cannot be cancelled. Since she was unhappy we made accommodations to give her store credit towards new shades. I worked with her for some time to try to accommodate. She decided to cancel her charge card while we were trying to work this out. We would still like to work this out with her however, she has avoided any of our attempts to reach out. We want to suggest for her to come into our store and chose another product of her liking. As always we aim to satisfy all of our customers however she needs to give us an opportunity. I am so very disappointed with the outcome of my experience with Dan Kugler. Dan came out to my new home and was very cordial. After seeing many options, I ultimately ordered my window treatments. When they arrived, many weeks later......John installed the first "Sheer shade" with valance and asked me if I liked it! I immediately observed that the valance DID NOT FIT THE WINDOW, and I could see the roller from both sides of the window. The roller shade itself slid from side to side inside the window frame. The valance also protruded outside of the window frame, yet still revealed the roller..... The pullcord was ill fitted and looked very sloppy for such an expensive window treatment. I did not have any more of these shades installed ( 6 were ordered ). John then installed the cellular shades in my upstairs rooms. They are fine, nothing special about them, but they serve the purpose. Dan's prices are high. When I tried to discuss the problems of the sheer shades with Dan , I was turned over to Tina, his right hand........ Though very nice, we could NOT get to an agreement on a substitution. And, every time I found a possible sub., the price kept increasing. It was ridiculous. Ultimately I have reported Kugler's to my Discover Card for investigation . I found that he actually over charged the tax in the original order by over $50.00!! In trying to work out another option, I suggested to just use the honeycombs that I had upstairs and refund the difference. NO GO! THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS. And, I found the honeycomb cell price increased - RANDOM - NOT..... I was going to add them instead. The cost of each was $50.00 higher a piece than I had paid for the each of the upstairs treatments. No explanation offered. I am waiting for Dan Kugler to respond to my credit card company and resolve this issue. So sad... I had worked with his brother SAM KUGLER for many years prior to this purchase. Sam was exceptional to work with. I made a huge mistake. I moved farther north into Frederick County and figured that Sam would not travel that distance. It has been over a month and still waiting.........
We have used Dan numerous times and he is always our first stop when we are thinking about new blinds or curtains and carpets or rugs. We have shopped around extensively and even with his personal service and quality products his prices are comparable to places you might have thought were cheap or cheaper. Plus he's a local business and does a fantastic job! We are very happy with the blinds we have bought and get compliments on them regularly. Check him out.

I needed to have my Hunter Douglas blinds repaired. Drove 26 miles from my home to his shop to drop them off. Dan realized how far I had come and offered to repair while I waited so I wouldn't have to make a return trip. It's not often you find that kind of service and thoughtfulness. BTW, the blinds are like new.
Dan Kuglers Design center is a Hunter Douglas authorized service center and we purchased window treatments for our newly constructed home through them in January, 2017. The design process was great as well as the initial installation. However, just a few months after installation we noticed that almost all of our white painted wood blinds were defective and warped and a couple of the tilt/raise mechanisms stopped working properly. We have called and emailed Dan Kugler's design center over a dozen times starting in MAY, 2017 and each time they give us the runaround saying they will call us back. Yet not once have they reached back out to us. Unreal when you spend 5 figures for window treatments... Here we are OVER A YEAR LATER with our defective blinds without a resolution! One of the blinds cannot even close so light always shines through (see attached pics). We have called and been in contact with the Hunter Douglas who has been trying to get Dan Kugler's to service our blinds since they say that we have to stay with the company we originally ordered from and still no acknowledgement from Dan Kugler's design center. In summary, good design, high prices, non-existent customer service. If you have a 5-figure budget for blinds you can definitely afford to go somewhere else. I cannot recommend.
