Santi, thank you for reaching out to us about your recent service experience. We were able to look into this further. BMW North America maintenance plan covers regular maintenance when your brake pads fall below a particular threshold during the normal operation of the vehicle. In this case, your brakes were well above that limit, and thus the brake pads were not eligible to be replaced under the BMW Extended Maintenance plan. The issue appears to be caused by excessive heat while braking, which caused the rotors to get warped. BMW determines this type of warping to be caused by a particular way the vehicle was driven and not caused by a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle. As such, the warping of the rotors would not be covered under BMW Warranty nor the BMW Maintenance plan. As always, our team is here to assist you if you need any additional information on what is or what is not covered under your BMW Warranty or BMW Extended Maintenance plan. Thanks againKen Lemler, Guest Relations Manager, Bob Smith BMW MINI.

UPDATE: 12/01/2021 - I was becoming accustomed to Ultimate Care Plus meaning that braking system performance and audio were that of a probably not street legal jalopy, when I had an idea. I brought my car to Century West BMW, where I was told that the inner brake pads were completely worn and were metal on metal, according to the service advisor. BMW only uses sensors on the outer pads, which, I was told, is why the brake service indicator did not appear. It seems that if these people put any effort into actually doing their job, rather than directing all of their efforts to deny service to which I was entitled, this could have been avoided. The facts speak for themselves. *WARNING DONT BUY MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FROM BMW * BMW and their dealers are selling a contract in bad faith and defrauding their customers. I purchased a new X3 from Bob Smith (my third BMw) and purchased the longest / best coverage factory warranty and the longest "Ultimate Care Plus" program, which in addition to maintenance, covers the brakes for the life of the program. Now the rotors are warped, causing vibration when braking, and squealing while driving. This dealership that sold the car and the maintenance program along with it, and has done all but two of the services (which were done at another BMW dealer), is refusing to honor the program and contract. They state that they will not fix the problem with the rotors because the brake pads are not completely worn out. I asked many people at BMW USA and at Bob Smith to please point out where in the contract it states that the rotors will not be fixed if the pads are not worn out (this is not listed as an exception, or anything like it). Their answer itself is a lie, saying that the rotors are only warped because of "excessive braking," what a bunch of swindlers.

My lease agreement for my X 5 was up , so I walked in to the Bob Smith BMW dealer Calabasas and met Ms Elham Jilaradi, amazing woman, knowledgeable , sweet , and kind. We sat for 4 hours until my deal was closed and I purchased my car ,she made sure my car was ck top to the bottom, full of gas , clean and ready to go , once she finished the work at her end , she waited in her office until I was done singing the final paper work with the finance office, I have been with Bob smith for the past 13 years and everyone from sales to service have great attitude towards their customer. They spoil their customer, thats why I dont want to drive any other car except my BMW. Thank you Elham for the excellent service.

My car gave me a notification that it needed more coolant and I knew I must have been overdue for having my car serviced so I took it in to Bob Smith where I bought the car. When I called I told them I wanted to see if there was a leak because I had to put coolant in twice in a few months, and that I also needed a service. I picked it up the next day and when I drove off the coolant light was still on. I mentioned this to Kurt and he told me I could just add some coolant and bring it back in. I felt nervous about going back there, so I went to Rusnak instead. They found a leak, fixed it, and everything was fine. Just 8,000 miles later I have been hearing a scraping noise when I brake, so I brought it in to a different dealer and they showed me that both of my rear brakes are worn down and scraping the rotor. I am not an expert I just can't imagine that the brakes got this bad without it being detectable at the service I had in March at Bob Smith.
