I saw a sign today saying the university had a big heart however when that came to me no they didn't. I suffer from mental health and at the time financial issues. I fall behind in my fees but had no sympathy from the university. Which in turn made my health and life harder..
I had a great time studying for my degree at Marjon. Thanks to the small class sizes and chilled out atmosphere, I was able to get the individual feedback I needed to push myself to become the media professional I wanted to be. Now I've got the skills to take my career in a load of different directions and I couldn't be happier with the degree choice I made.
Having studied a PGCE here, I would heavily recommend studying elsewhere if you will have any healthcare issues. The course leader is completely uninterested in anyone that doesn't fit in Marjon's cult-like mentality. Having suffered with several problems during the year, I think I had about 1 of them sorted out; I was made to feel more of a hinderance because I had complex health issues (something my undergrad uni never had issues with). Furthermore, regarding the "small university, big heart" slogan, I spoke with the course leader a few times during my study and on my graduation day, she couldn't even pronounce my name correctly. If they truly had a "big heart" for their small campus, surely this would not happen? Do not believe the 'number 1 in the UK for teaching' slogan, myself and others have not had that level of support during the PGCE and if I could go back and choose anywhere else to study - I would do!
