My girlfriend and I were in the market for a new apartment. We came across the bright leaf building after visiting the tattoo parlor out front. We figured we would stop in and visit. The front door was locked of course for safety reasons so I called the number after failing to get inside. My call was redirected to a main office where they took all my information and I was told I would hear from someone in the next couple days. Two days later we decide to stop by and see if we can get ahold of the leasing office. We couldnt get inside again and asked a resident if anyone was in the leasing office and she told us that she was gone for the day. My girlfriend then called and they took her information. Now they have my information and my girlfriends. We have called multiple times afterwards and made atleast 4 separate attempts to reach anyone that could give us a showing and no dice. If its this hard to get in contact with them I can only imagine how hard it is to live in their building. We have decided to look else where.

The parking at The Brightleaf Building certainly was a bigger issue in the past, but after hearing our residents concerns, we have made huge strides to improve this for all! As you stated, it is getting better, and it will continue to do so in the near future! As for the issues that may arise with the sound, thank you for letting us know so we can further address this! With this being a very large building. As with any other multifamily community, we do our best to minimize this and create a comfortable zone to call home for all. We love that you love our floorplans, our upgraded interiors, super high ceilings and customizability! Don't get me wrong, this place is not horrible and upon move-in, i was absolutely in love. The interior is gorgeous with the very tall ceilings and the huge window(s). The floor plans of the apartments are really open and are prime for customizing your places how you want it to be. But after living here for a year and some change, we have noticed many faults with this building. The first thing that anyone with ears will notice is how paper thin the walls are and how you can hear everything that goes on in your neighbors lives. Upstairs, downstairs, left or right, you can hear all of your neighbors all of the time. It is an inconvenience because you and your companions can't talk how you want, walk how you want and if you want to listen to music, you have to be more cautious than normal to make sure you aren't being rude to your roommates... i mean neighbors. The second thing that absolutely blows my mind is the parking. The parking is terrible but it has slowly gotten better. The main parking lot (front of the building) is always pretty packed, especially towards the end of the day, and the spots are very tiny. While there is nothing that can really be done about the size of the parking spots, there are still a lot of spots in the back of building. If you and your roommate have more than one car, only one of you will get to have a parking pass. The roommate is left to battle it out for the street parking with the other tenants AND their guests. You will be towed if you park in a spot without a pass. While the pros out number the cons, the cons outweigh the pros. i really want to love this place but it is hard to keep giving this place chance after chance, when more stuff keeps happening. To give a honest opinion about it I have a lot of friends on the ship who moved here. I really like how all the utilities are included and you only pay one bill even cable and internet is in the rent too. They are pretty close to the train so that girl is right however, its Norfolk and just like any industrial city you'll hear the lifestyle of it. When I went over to my friends place I first loved it but could hear some footsteps of the person that were above us but then again we're on the second floor. I took a tour with a girl named Krystal she seemed really nice and told me about the train which I really don't mind at all. The floor plans she showed me are awesome and I liked the hardwood floors just not the concreted. She called me later on that day to see if I had any questions which was nice. I asked my friend that lived there about how she is and they said she's the property manager and they didn't have any complaints about her. I don't know the whole deal about the building but overall it seems nice. I like lofts and I wish there were a lot more around that are like them.

These building offer ALOT in terms of comfort, from replacing the air filters regularly to maintaining a decent sized pool and fitness room, as well as the convienance of washers and dryer clean and ready to use. I enjoy the loft ceilings, and the closet space the most, although i was sold at the sight of granite countertops. It is a very quiet building, despite the walls being thin. The property manager currently here (Mrs.Sheila)is exceptional at her role in this community. She takes commwnts from residents discreetly and follows through with resolve to ensure the comfort of the residents in a timely manner.
