Not even a star for the lady that picked up the phone. According to her, that was no chance for me to get one of her dogs, and suddenly said "I need to go" a hung up. Sorry, but if I have to deal with that lady, this rescue place is not for me.

My husband and I wanted to adopt a small dog. We came across Shih Tzu Rescue thru Pet Finders. We inquired about a bonded pair and had a lengthy conversation with Harriet. She asked a lot of questions about us, about our how we cared for our previous boxers. She was direct and some questions were quite inquisitive but, after our conversation, we felt the pets in her charge were in good hands. Ultimately we realized the 2 dogs were too many for us and canceled the appointment. A couple of weeks later we were interested in seeing 3 small dogs at the same rescue. We drove an hour to the rescue and stopped for quick lunch. We were so excited and sure one of these dogs would be going home with us. I quickly browsed reviews again I was intrigued by the bad ones. I looked at my husband and wondered what type of people we were going to encounter. But, being ourselves in the restaurant business, we have learned you must read between the lines. We met France, Joanne (a vet dropping off a dog that she was tending to) and Harriet's husband. What we encountered were professional people that knew what they were doing. They have been rescuing since the 90s. They knew their dogs, which would be right or wrong for us. Between the 3 they guided us to the perfect little new member of our family, Miki. As Amy H. said Shih Tzu Rescue is very thorough at vetting adopted pet parents. It is necessary in order to get responsible, caring people to adopt the dogs for life. Thank you Shih Tzu Rescue! You did and are doing a great job. We love our little Miki a.k.a. Hazel Rose.

We've adopted two dogs from STR, one was a little over a year old and one was a little less than a year old. Our first rescue just had a 15th birthday and our second will be 14 in April. They are both very healthy and happy pups and we had great adoption experiences. They even brought the puppies to our home, first to make sure it was a safe place for a dog and second to make sure the dogs would get along. This is a caring and loving rescue.

The worst customer service! They dont want to adopt the dogs out! Said that I need a fenced yard even if I want to keep the dog indoors! I would never leave my new baby outside in this heat all day! They are absolutely ridiculous! They hang up the phone and want to keep the dogs for themselves!
