It is hard to express in words what Cool Marketing has done for our CoolSculpting practice. So, Ill let the numbers do the talking: 2014 Utilization [BEFORE Cool Marketing]: 8 to 15 treatments per month 2015 Utilization [w/Cool Marketing]: 30 to 45 treatments per month 2016 Utilization [w/Cool Marketing]: 42 to 91 treatments per month 2017 Utilization [w/Cool Marketing]: 81 to 132 treatments per month Background: We bought our first CoolSculpting machine back in 2014. For the first year, we did nearly everything our Zeltiq rep told us to do. We put out their brochures, held Cool events, launched a Zeltiq CoolSculpting microsite and spent a couple thousand dollars each month on internet marketing. All this effort only got us about 2 patients a week. Thats it. Frustrated with those results and the ever-increasing number competitors around our center, we started searching for a marketing firm that could help us get more patients. We spoke to a handful of enthusiastic, over-confident agencies before discovering Cool Marketing. After experiencing a demo of their capabilities, we were sold. But there was a catch: our practice had to apply to procure a license to their proprietary brands. Let me explain Cools parent company (Rayhawk) owns two trademarks which are perfect for marketing CoolSculpting: Dr. Freeze and Dr. Sculpt. Both of these brands are key upgrades to Rayhawks standard Cool Campaign, but the licensor is super particular about who they license the names too. In fact, we were cautioned to not be surprised if we were denied because a lot of applicants get rejected. Our office manager submitted a digital application and included 5 flattering pictures of our facilities. Then, we waited about 2 to 3 weeks to hear back When we finally did, it was good news! The Cool Marketing Effect: Our new Cool Campaign was launched about 5 weeks after we signed the license agreement and paid a license acquisition fee (an initial fee of $10,000 required to acquire the license to operate under the Dr. Freeze brand). They also launched a Google Pay-Per-Click campaign that drove traffic to our Dr. Freeze microsite. Almost like magic, the phone started to ring: Hello, is this Dr. Freeze? We felt legit. People were not just asking for CoolSculpting - they were specifically asking for Dr. Freeze. Most of the callers were motivated consumers who scheduled consultations during the initial call. The No Show rate was relatively low (20%), and our new consultation conversion rate was about 70% (which I have heard is relatively high). As you can tell from the numbers (see above), all this translated into sales with our CoolSculpting machine being used every day. Our medical director was thrilled because purchasing the CoolSculpting machine was a big gamble that was finally paying off. He was so happy that he purchased a second machine to help us accommodate the increased patient load. Cool Campaign Costs and Revenue: The old saying that you got to spend money to make money definitely applies here: Initial setup (aka license acquisition fee): $10,000 Monthly License / Service Fees: $3,000 (2,000 for Cool Campaign + 1,000 for Dr. Freeze license) Monthly advertising spend: $3,500 (paid directly to Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc.) Total monthly marketing expense: $6,500 Monthly Revenue (based on $600/cycle): 2015: $18,000.00 - $27,000.00 2016: $25,200.00 - $54,600.00 2017: $48,600.00 - $79,200.00 To summarize, today our practice is making over 10 TIMES what we spend on our Cool Campaign. You read that right, the total cost for our Cool Campaign (including Dr. Freeze license and ad spend) is approx. $6,500/month, and it delivers as much as $79,000 of CoolSculpting revenue in a single month. So actually, on a good month that is a 12x return. Numbers dont lie, and those numbers say one thing loud and clear: Coolsculpting can be very profitable when you are working with the right marketing company.

The team at Cool Marketing asked me to share my thoughts on our first three months with this awesome agency. Ill let the numbers do the talking. We signed up and launched our new Cool Campaign in November 2019. The very first month we did 76 treatments. Let me put that number into perspective: that is 3.8x the 20 treatments we did during the same time period the prior year (Nov. 2018). So, no lag time or long wait for the campaign to gain traction. The same month the agency launches launched our campaign, we nearly quadrupled our utilization when compared to the prior November. Then in the next month we did another 80 treatment cycles. Keep in mind this was in December when demand for CoolSculpting tends to slow down for all practices. For comparison, in December 2018, without Cool Marketing we only 30 treatments. The big spike came last month - January 2020 - only 3 months after launching our Cool Campaign we did 144 treatments that is over $80,000 in a single month! So, let me summarize our first 3 months with Cool Marketing. We have done about 300 CoolSculpting treatments in 3 months which equals $180,000 in revenue. How much did all this marketing cost? 2,500 a month to Cool Marketing and about 3,000 a month in ad spend (Google Ads, Yelp Ads, etc.) so the total marketing spend is $5,500 per month. We spent $17k in three months and made $180,000. But since Allergan pays for half of our marketing spend, we actually spent only $8.5k with Cool Marketing and made $180k. Id say that is a pretty amazing return. I will post an update when I get the numbers in from our first CoolEvent.

Cool Marketing is the most incredible ad agency our practice has ever worked with and let me tell you we have worked with a lot of duds. Cool Marketing focuses on promoting CoolSculpting, and this focus makes them really good at what they do. Here is why we love Cool Marketing: #1 Specialization equals success. Very few advertising agencies know how to effectively market Coolsculpting. In fact, we have previously worked with other firms who claim to be experts at marketing medical aesthetics and guess what they have NOT been able to generate the same results as Cool Marketing. In short, the folks at Cool Advertising just know what they are doing. #2 They deliver results. We have seen a dramatic increase in Coolsculpting patients since Cool has been marketing our practice. To be more specific, our Coolsculpting utilization increased from about 12 cycles to more than 130 cycles a month! Now we do well over 80 cycles per month now which equals about $50,000 a month in sales. #3 The results come QUICKLY. Our practice saw an uptick in CoolSculpting leads within 3 months after launching our Cool Campaign. That is quicker than any other marketing firm we have ever worked with. Other firms expect you to wait 6 months (or more) before seeing any results from their efforts. And when things finally start happening, it is more of a trickle than a roar. With Cool new leads started pouring in very soon after launch and it was a dramatic increase that was impossible to ignore. #4 Consistent performance. With some marketing companies you get a temporary bump up in new patients and then things die down. We have been working with Cool Advertising more than 3 years now and their marketing engine consistently boosts Coolsculpting leads and utilization month after month. #5 We get to be a Dr. Freeze center (after successfully applying for the license). There is intense competition in the CoolSculpting space, and marketing ourselves as a prestigious Dr. Freeze center is a huge advantage. #6 Cools marketing engine is a comprehensive solution. Cool covers all the bases with branding, a microsite, pay per click advertising, social media marketing, reputation management, signage support, consultation/conversion tools. Everything they deliver works in harmony to help us attract more clients. #7 Low Risk. There is no long-term contract so you can cancel anytime without any penalties although I cant imagine us ever wanting out of this profitable arrangement. So yes, Cool Marketing rocks, but only if you really want to grow your CoolSculpting business and are willing to make the investment to make it happen.
