Never again. After buying a lot of wine, Aperol and other spirits at this place over the years, I'm done with Crush. The cause? Yesterday's disgusting experience with an obnoxious, snide, bald guy there. (I mention bald only to identify him - I'm bald too). Q: Do you have an inexpensive, nice Vino Verde at $10 or under? A: We have the same thing from Spain, although the grape is different. Price is $15. (Same thing? Different grape, different country.) Q. Do you have an inexpensive rose? A. (Shows rose that has no price marked.) Q. How much is it? A. $15 and change. Q. What is the actual price? A. $15 and change. Q. How much change? A. (goes to check at register, rolling eyes and laughing derisively.) So I put the bottles I had already selected on the counter and walked out, never to return. Evidently Crush now doesn't welcome people who want to shop below the store's inflated price points. How this place survives with so much competition nearby is amazing. Tip: Venerable Sherry-Lehman's is just a few blocks away at Park and 59. Courteous, professional service regardless of price. And yes they have plenty of nice wines in the $10 and under price range!
While they have an impressive selection at times the staff is mostly rude and arrogant. Shipping is a rip off. Plenty of better options in the NYC area, try Slope Cellars or Chambers Street Wines where the selection is often better and where they know how to treat their customers appropriately.
Excellent wine and liquor store. Everytime I am there the staff is knowledgeable about the wines and very helpful. Any time I have questions about wines and needing a good recommendations for the meal I'm preparing they have never let me down. Also if you buy enough wine there you may get invited to their champagne tasting party at Christmas. We got loaded on some really great champagne then bought a case of it. Maybe you should buy sober. Thanks Crush for your continued great service.
