As stated in the paperwork that you signed and that multiple employees reiterated to you, reimbursements are sent out 6-8 weeks from the reimbursement request deadline of September 15th, not 6-8 weeks from the time you send in your request. Seeing as your check was sent out within the stated time frame, we are sorry to hear that this created an unpleasant experience for you. We wish we would have been able to accommodate your desire to get your reimbursement to you sooner, but we are unable to fulfill all requests outside of our stated policies. Planning and fundraising went smooth. Peru was amazing. Our country coordinators were wonderful. Positive overall experience with HELP until it came to my wife and I receiving our fundraising reimbursement. Multiple unpleasant, disrespectful exchanges were had with the employee responsible for processing our reimbursement checks. Misinformation was given to us in repetition through phone and email for several months after our trip. Deceitful indeed.

Carol, Thank you for leaving this review to explain the communication issues you experienced with us during the height of the pandemic. That was a time of shifting people and locations for us and we were struggling to keep up! We were tentatively accepting volunteers for Fall with hopes that the country and program would open back up, but sadly we were not able to and in the end were not able to accept any payments or interns for that program. We know that people wanted more updates and communication than we were able to deliver, but the constant changing borders and international travel constraints kept us from being able to give confident, for sure answers to people wanting to work with us. This is why all volunteers were told if the borders opened and the program would be able to move forward, they would be contacted. We know that this was not ideal, but this was all we could do at the time. Thank you for your patience, and we apologize that we were not able to offer you a program to attend that year and that our communication was difficult for you. We wish you and your husband the best of luck in your future endeavors!

I have not been impressed with their communication. I have tried calling and leaving voicemails, emailing multiple times, even messaging on Instagram, all with no response. My husband and I were accepted for one of their upcoming programs but we have been unable to reach anyone to confirm details or make our payment.

I would recommend this organization to anyone who is interested in doing good in the world, no matter your level of experience in development work! The work they do is sustainable and careful to make a positive impact. Their volunteer programs are a great way to learn about other countries and cultures, social issues and how to approach them, and you come back a better person ready to serve and make a difference in your own community. 10 out of 10 would recommend!!!!!!

Absolutely LOVED HELP International. My experience with them was incredible. I went to Nepal with this organization and it changed my life. They excel at sustainable long lasting international development. I am heading back to Greece this summer to work in a refugee camp with them and am so excited to have a positive impact on the camp as well as this experience having a positive impact on me. My experience with them has been so meaningful and the people I have met and things I have done have truly changed me. Thank you THANK YOU.
