Dear Julian, The OBJ file is not a standard printing format, the STL is. This is a clear indication of how little you are informed about 3D printing or jewelry manufacturing in general. I can see how a person who has no comprehension of the process may get aggravated and release a lot of unnecessary steam. Can you imagine for a company that has been leading the industry in designing and fabrication for over 25 years to start educating every new comer that decided to become a jewelry designer and walk them trough the process until they become experienced enough to understand how the process works. No you go to school for that:) We value all clients and are willing to help if needed. The reason we suggested to RECREATE the model, not corrected, is because the model has to many sharp edges and some parts are simply very thin. This would cause a great deal of complications during the casting and actual fabrication process. You may not agree with many things including the price of $700 but we do not operate based on your preferences. The website is very clearly indicating that we make single items including samples. The conversation that you were having with us was related to production. To call us dishonest from a general email communication is nothing less than hate and intentional attempt to damage our reputation. May I remind you that you have done 0 business with us and yet you took the liberty of writing a review simply displaying an outburst of unsatisfied emotions driven by immature tantrum. I am very happy that we won't have any connection with your project or with you in general. Best of luck to you! William L.

Firstly, the customer service I received was very unhelpful. The representative had issues opening my OBJ file and said they needed an STL. OBJ is a very standard file for 3D printing. So I convert to STL and send it over. The representative simply replies it doesnt work. No suggestions on how to fix it, no insights into what the issue could be. After they figure out how to open my file, they tell me my design has issues and it will be $700 for them to correct the file. One such issue was that the ring shank is thickwhich I was aware of..because I designed it that way. Additionally, they told me that for pieces in brass there is a 70 pc minimum order. Never mind the fact that I had asked for gold plated bronze, but the FAQ on their website says there is no minimum order. I was told by the representative that only gold and platinum pieces have no minimum order. This is not communicated clearly on their website. The lackluster customer service, lack of solutions, dishonest language on their website, and price gouging are the reasons for my rating.
Dear Joan, It is precisely due to your irrational behavior and passive aggression that our company has refused to accommodate you with our services. Upon closer look at your email communication, we have found your manner of conduct improper and uncalled for. It is also interesting that for someone who has done 0 business with our company you sure have a lot to say about us. Our company has been fabricating fine jewelry for over 25 years and it is still recognized as the leading Jewelry designing and manufacturing organization in greater New York and the tri-state area. We take customer service very seriously here at cadcamnyc and always make sure that our clients are 100% satisfied with the final results. As mentioned previously in our email communication, we wish you all the best in your future ventures and intrigues.

I didnt get my project off the ground by this business due to a communication problem evidently.... however, in a good faith effort I did submit my marketing materials (3D images and drawings) as he implied(verbally on phone) they would be kept confidential. The phone call to someone by the name of William seemed positive until I asked why the business wasnt listed on the BBB profile and I received an explanation that Id not heard before saying thats hypocritical and he just had nothing great to say about it.... I explained my point on how it shows credibility when a potential can see a review on BBB and it helps to make informed decisions. I did find some positive reviews (4-5 stars) on google and a one star... so I mentioned that was a good sign for me. During the course of emails back and forth I noticed that William had no last name in his coorespondences and so I(being cautious still on my early journey on this product development path) asked in one of my emails what is his last name was and apparently that was the wrong question to ask because it set him off with seeming offended and taking it out of context as if I was seeking a personal relationship... which by all means was ludicrous. Ive not had such a twisted encounter in all my life... but he actually did add his last name to that final email.... so that in itself was a testament to my legitimate question. Unfortunately we live and learn and move on to the right path and purpose that The Good Lord has for us.... nothing personal just business I suppose. Thankful that I did find a company that will help me with my project.... finally! March 04,2020 In response to the owner,,,, Sir, if you would have thoughtfully read my review it was not in reference to the company but only about my experience with coorespondences with you(William). Im a professional in health care back ground and a Christian and Ive not ever been a passive-aggressive person....if you have a background in psychology or psycho therapy but dont know me then youre not qualified to label anyone.... be mindful about that... Description of passive-aggressive behavior: Passive-aggressive behavior might include avoiding direct or clear communication, evading problems, making excuses, blaming others, obstructionism, playing the victim, feigning compliance with requests, sarcasm, backhanded compliments, and hiding anger. Im not into character bashing so calling or referring to me as irrational and passive aggressive in nature is totally opposite of my nature ....being a Christian and having a clear conscience matters most to me . Obviously asking you for information about your proper or full name was something that wasnt ok with you but I dont do business with anyone if I have been talked down to just because I ask specific questions about to make sure Im dealing with a reputable individual.... I did my home work and checked your reviews which read favorably with only one at that time that wasnt...so I wanted to see for myself with hopeful excitement that my project would be a fit. I only hope since I blindly trusted you not to disclose of my project materials that I sent to you that you wont copy or knock off my jewelry idea....that wouldnt be wise and Im sure that you would agree..... its my experience up until my encounter with you that asking the right questions of potential jewelry manufacturers is what an individual is supposed and encouraged to do before doing any business with such companies regardless of online reviews because there are shills out here hired by companies to write fake positive reviews. So your accusations of me being irrational is not founded..... your negativity is showing a lot about your character now so Im grateful I didnt get to work with you or your business. I am sorry that my simple question of asking your last name ( which wasnt in any of your emails offended you or disturbed your soul.... however, I am not sorry to have asked for my protection. Yes, I will move forward....with blessings by the great Heavenly Father.
Thank you Michael! We enjoyed working with you and it's great to hear what stood out for you during the process. Glad you are both happy with the ring :)

Great experience with custom engagement ring, we are very happy! My fiancee and I are both architects, so naturally we had very specific idea of what we wanted and couldn't find it anywhere. We had a reference photo and used this to start the process with William and his team. After a lot of back and forth reviewing and commenting on drawings we had a couple more sit-downs with William to better understand the product (we had not designed jewelry before and some of our requests were not appropriate for the medium). William was very patient with us, did not push for a decision or expedite the process to finish quickly. In the end, we got exactly what we wanted. Thank you CadCamNYC!
Thank you very much for all the kind words, nothing makes us feel more rewarded than a satisfied costumer. Thank you for choosing CADCAMNYC

Been to many other Jewelers before coming across CadCamNYC, and I'm so glad that I did not settle for anything else. Nice cozy studio that sets a very welcoming and calm vibe, but also a workplace that gives a very professional vibe. William and his team are absolutely bestial professionals in metallurgy and jewelry, but William's just something else. He's innovative and clearly knows what he's doing, but he's not pushy and will accept all custom ideas that you can think of, and he gives the step by step of the process without fancy jargon, just straightforward and clearly understandable. Their prices are extremely cheap compared to the marketplace, they're very fast and punctual with the time, and the end results are amazing quality. I recommend this to anyone looking for a one-off custom piece of their imagined jewelry.
Dear Santanna M. It seems to me that we had a classic case of miscommunication. We never refused your business but we did suggest for you guys to speak with at least one or possibly two more jewelry companies to select the best candidate that you are comfortable working with. We did discuss during an approximately one-hour meeting the issue of safety regarding the center stone positioning, structurally related questions and etc. We disclosed information regarding diamond pricing at a point that no company would ever do by showing you the list price of diamonds used in the market by the wholesalers. As I mentioned during the meeting, the experience of engagement ring creation should be calm and pleasant. We wish you all the best in all your future ventures and projects to come. CadcCamNyc Team

Not worth your time! Was looking for a jewelry designer to design a custom engagement ring and after a ton of research Cad Cam seemed to be everything we were looking for. We scheduled an in-person meeting to discuss our concept sketches/ design details and were extremely disappointed by the whole experience. Not only were we not impressed by the studio, the customer interaction from the staff and designers was horrible. We sat down for our meeting and the designer stared at us for several minutes until we decided to break the silence introducing ourselves and attempting to explain what we were looking for. We were quickly interrupted and told that they already knew everything from the 15 email exchange (which primarily discussed scheduling the meeting) and that the meeting was simply for us to ask them questions. They didn't ask us any questions about our concept sketches, ring size, preferred diamond characteristics, etc. When we asked to see stones because we only knew what shape we wanted, we were told that they were not able to show us any stones for our ring design. They also told us at the end of the appointment that they did not need our business. As a designer myself I can attest that this is not how design meetings should go. We visited several other custom jewelers that day where we were able to look at stones and got all our design details figured out and our questions answered so it's safe to say there are much better suited jewelry designers in NYC than Cad Cam!
