Hi, I remember you visiting our store right at our closing time for an engine today. As I mentioned earlier we dont have just that one but several others options to pick from. You may have seen one which had a bit of leak from the valve cover but I never mentioned I was going to give you that particular one. I also wanted to perform a compression test for you. Hi , Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We will use the feedback to make us better and to ensure this doesnt happen again. We are normally known for providing clean, tested engines & transmissions, and that we genuinely care about our customers. We always aim to deliver good quality products, and we are pretty torn when we dont meet expectations. We always test and inspect all our engines, sometimes the test results are not accurate because the engines are sitting for a while. For example these engines are imported from Japan and It takes approximately 4-5 weeks to receive them. It is normal that you won't get the exact leak down test results until its runs for a while. If the unit was purchased from us at JDM of California, and the proper documentations were presented whether it'd be photos, videos of the issue we would have definitely attended to the situation rather quickly. As long as the unit was within the warranty period we will honor it 100%. However if this was one of those situations where the customer had never even called in to make any type of complaints then we would have never known about it. We stand 100% on our warranty and we take our customers' feedback very seriously. These are basically Japanese salvage engines. Like any salvage engine, you are rolling the dice. I wasn't so lucky. Plugs looked good and it cranked smooth, but I was suspicious because the engine had obviously been exposed to the elements for a considerable period of time, judging by all the corrosion and oxidation, but the the guy said it was the best one he had. Went over it a bit more thoroughly when I got it on the stand. Cylinder 1 had 20% leakage at 50 psi. the rest had between 80% and 100% leakage. Metal shavings in the pan, too. Suffice to say, this engine did not get installed. The engine that actually went in came from H-Motors in Burbank. I would start there if you are looking for an engine.
