Save your money. I've been T1D for more than 2 years now. I applied about 8 months after my original diagnosis. Was told then, in not so many words, that my history with diabetes wasn't long enough to warrant an assistance dog but encouraged to reapply in the future at no cost since I had already applied. I waited another year, gathered all the necessary information from my records showing that I would benefit from an assistance dog since I am still having lows, and reapplied. They went back on their word and I had to pay the fee again, which was fine because I figured I had a mich better shot this time around. After 4 months of not hearing anything, unaswered phone calls and emails a like, I finally got a hold of Kari who said simply I can't tell you anything but that a letter is going out soon. You guessed it, I was denied again. I've come to the conclusion that to qualify in their eyes, you must have had to have been hospitalized due to low BS. Which is ridiculous. I've been as low as 18 with out passing out. What's more upsetting is the blatant disregard for emotion. I dont know what else to say about this but clearly Im more than disappointed with their lack of customer service.
I received a service dog from Can Do Canines on December 2017 less than 2-month later she got very sick. I rushed her into my Emergency Vet and they diagnosed her with Lymes Disease. Very sensative time line for a dog to be placed then get very sick. It took 47 Days before Can Do Canines responed or contacted me after I reported the Service Dog had Lymes Disease. Instead of Can Do Canines helping me or the dog the denied the help. They have been very rude, disrespectful, belittling and condescending to me and my husband. I've had to give this service dog a Bordetella shot, I also had to give her Lyme's disease shots! This should have been done and taken care of from Can Do Canines before they place a Service Dog in a home!! They insist that she does not have Lymes Disease and that myself & my vet are making this up and discredited my vet. They tried to blame me for everything and discrimination against me. Alen Peter is non stop harassing me sending police to my home, discrediting my Veterinarian a liar and trying to coheres me into saying she never had lymes disease. Alen Peters told me he's going to help me understand what's going on. Instead of being proactive and problem solving. Be very careful with this Organization!!! Complaint were filed against them.
It is heartbreaking for us when our program is not a right fit for someone's needs. We are saddened that we could not help you meet your child's needs and sincerely hope you find a program that can.

We have been on the waiting list for more then 3 1/2 years to find out after an hour and a half interview a letter comes two weeks later to say we are not a good fit?! What! So an hour and half interview lets you know my sons needs. Wasted over three years for something my son needs not wants but needs.
