Placed an online order on Wednesday, never received any shipping confirmation. Friday rolls around and still no email regarding shipping so I checked my bank statement, was only charged for one of the two items that I ordered. Called and no one was able to help me determine which item was shipped. I made it clear to the person I spoke with that I needed to order the other item that was "out of stock" from another vendor but could not order because I didn't know which item was being shipped to me. The person I spoke with said the shipping dept will get back to me the first thing following business day. Waited the entire weekend, Monday morning no callback so I called them back. Spoke to the shipping guy, he told me that the jacket was out of stock, and the bibs was shipped and should arrive today. As I placing an order for the jacket thru another online vendor, the item arrives, it was the bibs and not the jacket. So I rmove the jacket from my cart and then go to add the bibs.....being 5 days later after this online vendor's sale started, these bibs are no longer available at either of the two online vendors that had them for the same sale price. I specifically ordered from this place due to all the positive reviews, which turned out to be a costly mistake. This has to be the most horrible e-commerce service I've ever experienced. This entire scenario could have been averted if they would have just sent an email letting me know that an item I ordered was out of stock and they will only be sending the item that was in stock. I would have been able to order from somewhere else for the same sale price. Thorne Bros also charges a 15% restocking fee on all non-defective returns. This is not disclosed on their website but is on the receipt. Had I known this, I would have stayed away in the first place. Don't get me wrong, the jacket is nice and I got it at a great price...but how they handle their e-commerce is the worst I've ever experienced. Don't do online sales if you cannot service your customers have in a timely matter. 1 star for the great jacket and price. Everything else pretty much sucked!!
Early February I had my reels sent out to get cleaned, repaired if need be. Around late March I was begging them after literally a dozen calls to send me my reels back since no one was working on them. It took me a month of calling before they actually told me they had them let alone work on them. Apparently they have only one guy to work on them and was swamped with reels to clean. Finally got them back about 3 days before my first bass tournament of the year early april. Had to stay home and lose out on a prefishing day to make sure I had them for the tourney. Reel cleaning for 5 bait casters and a new gear replaced, nearly 300 dollars. I had also sent my rods for repair. A spinning and baitcasting. Could of done the work myself but I just had twins born 2 months ago. My time is limited. A guide insert for the spinning and a guide put on for the baitcaster as well as a chipped cork handle replaced. Roughly 80 dollars for the repair. Get them both back and find out that my tip on my spinning rod was crushed during shipping.They made right by getting me a brand new rod which I thanked them for. The guide on my casting rod was repaired but no clear coat was applied to the wrap to secure the guide. I thought maybe they had used a different style clear coat. Went fishing and was wondering why it was casting weird. Sure enough, the eye twisted. I'll add some clear coat to it when I get the chance. My experience with thorne bros was miserable. There might be people who have had good experience with them unfortunately, I was the one they chose to give me a bad experience. I didn't want to write this but I'm frustrated and want others to be aware of my situation. I support local anywhere I go but they also have to deliver on service. Throne bros didn't deliver and obviously I will not be a returning customer. All in all I spent roughly 500 dollars for a headache between shipping and repairs. Also, with this being a Daiwa affiliated dealer, I sought these guys out because of warranty claims, not one claim was made or even asking if these are covered under warranty. I'll be emailing Daiwa about my experience here in the future.
Shout out to Amazing Customer Service. Twice in 7 Days. Thorne Bros had a Clam Jacket that nobody else had, I called (at 3pm) to purchase it only to find out my card hadn't been activated yet. They held the item till I called back. The coat shipped the same day, and was delivered the next day to our House in North Dakota. The following Sunday my son wanted a pair of boots they had at the Fargo Ice Show. They didn't have them there, but called the store, had them put on hold, let us pay at the show. Boots shipped Monday, and they arrived on Tuesday. Amazing Customer service.
