Overall, it was a good stay at Boyne. Rooms were great, clean and no issues room wise during this past weekend stay. Reason for 3/5 stars is as follows. 1) Indoor and Outdoor Pool Bar / Bar Service There is an outdoor pool located in the main lodge. There is a sign advertising food and drinks. I initially figured a server may come out to take orders and/or a QR code to order off of your phone. Neither of these applied. No issue. I go inside to the bar area to take an order. While waiting for my order (~5 minutes) the bartender drops multiple F bombs that I can audibly hear. At this point, anyone previously in the bar had left. It just felt unprofessional to me and glad no kids were present. In addition to this, the Snowflake lounge was a stink. Yes, a literal stink. I went in for the first time in my life one night with family. We stayed for all of five minutes (to use the bathrooms) then leave. This place smelled horrible. The best way I could describe the odor was a mixture of cat urine and real urine. I had to do a double take, yet everyone in my party of seven felt the same way.
This isnt quite the relaxing getaway or party experience most childless couples are looking for, but I can imagine its great for larger families with young children. I stayed for 5 days with my boyfriend and while the staff and food were awesome, I was not impressed with the run-down and outdated interior/facilities, or the almost constant throngs of screaming, running, typically unsupervised children that seemed to dominate the resort. The pools and hot tubs were consistently full of screaming and splashing youngins, and it was difficult to find chairs to lounge in. One day, I left my chair, drink and items unsupervised for no more than 10 minutes to use the restroom, and came back to find someone wrapped in my towels I had set out and lounging on the chair Id left amongst my belongings It was one of many odd encounters with other resort folks that week Some of the best parts were going up to the eagles nest, and the wonderful spa. I also enjoyed the friendly bartenders at all the resort restaurants, but was puzzled that everything closed by 9 pm most nights. I would not return due to the fact that the trip was in no way relaxing and the facilities left a lot to be desired. We paid for an upgraded hotel room in the main lodge that was not cleaned daily, there was a blood stain on the comforter when we arrived that was also not washed during our stay, there was chipped paint and the decor was reminiscent of an outdated 80s German grandmas house. The common areas in the resort were also quite dirty. I spotted dirty underwear, socks, and other trash and debris in the halls/common areas of the hotel daily during my stay. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery around the location, just wish this resort wouldve been a better getaway
Great place for family fun! Rode the ski lift for some amazing views and we took the 6 person golf cart on the tour and so some breathe taking sights and houses on the golf courses.
