We are sorry that you feel your time was wasted in a meeting to see what your designer proposed for your home. When working through the possibilities for a remodel, including a master bathroom, our designers do their diligence investigating options, considering needs, and creating recommendations. Finding the right balance between wish list items and budgetary requirements can be challenging, and the only way to get a firm price is to actually do the work and create a complete design solution. This preliminary work that we perform is at no cost to you, and is important to complete in order to create a defined scope for a project, rather than a ballpark estimate. While we were ultimately not the right fit for you and your remodel, we are happy to learn that you found someone you felt comfortable working with, and who was also able to meet your desired budget. Best of luck for a successful renovation.

We went to Normandy for our master bathroom. We were asked for our budget at the design meeting when the designer came into our home. When we met with Normandy at their office, the lowest option was $22,000 over our budget and we were supplying the tile and granite countertops. The designer announced that she knew she had tripled our budget but couldn't give us that information over the phone. She apologized for making us drive in knowing she was so off on our budget. While I appreciate the apology, it was frustrating to be so completely off on our budget. If it wasn't doable, we should've been told from the start. Needless to say, we had someone come in that day who was able to hit our price point based on our budget.

We are absolutely heartbroken to read your review. Weve clearly failed you, and for that we are truly and deeply sorry. You are absolutely right, we tout ourselves as being a company that puts our clients first and delivers a low-stress remodeling experience. And for the vast majority of our customers, that is the reality for their renovation. It is our dedication to those ideals that has made this recounting of your renovation all the more wrenching and distinctly disappointing. Your experience was not at all up to our standards, and there is no excuse for the fact that these problems were not addressed before things got out of hand. While it is likely of little comfort to you today, weve already taken steps internally to ensure that the types of problems and frustrations you experienced will not happen to anyone else in the future. You mention in your review that one of the reasons you hired Normandy is because you knew we would stand behind our work, and indeed we will. Our owner is currently coordinating a date and time for him to meet with you in your home to begin working on resolutions to outstanding problems. We understand that your experience with us has been far below what you expected, and you are likely exceptionally frustrated, which is completely understandable. While we have a long way to go to rebuild the trust that weve lost, we want to thank you for allowing us to come into your home and meet with you to talk about a possible resolution. While we know that we dont have the right to ask this of you, we hope that you will not lose faith that despite the difficulties youve experienced in the past, that we will still do everything we can to do right by you in the end.

We had several projects at our home including full gut and refresh work in the master bed/bath, powder room, kitchen, living room and exterior. We spoke with numerous designers/ contractors and decided to go with Normandy based on other reviews and their radio ads which indicate that they handle all the details and quote their projects accurately. Although their quote was one of the highest, we decided that given our busy schedules and the need for trustworthiness, we would bare the added expense. They are well established and would be around if anything were to go wrong once the work was completed. We worked with a designer, Karen, who was helpful during our selections process. However, there were several items (interior wine cellar door, folding back door, etc.) that they were unable to source within budget that required us to locate, design and procure the items. When the items were delivered, Normandy refused to provide any assistance with delivery. So instead we hired workers and coordinated the logistics ourselves. So much for handling all the details. We also worked with our project manager Paul. Since all the work is subcontracted, Pauls job was to coordinate the timing of the projects and to provide the crews with instructions on what to do/ where to go and to validate that their work was completed. Although had clear knowledge of the business, he was not respected by most of the crews as they routinely didnt show up or they were thrilled to catch us a home to get direction. Other items we experienced over the 4-5 months: Damage on a lot of walls leading to the work areas. Normandy doesnt offer painting services and we were told damage should be expected. Over $1K of additional painting cost was not. Porta-potty included in our contract was not delivered. This caused a situation of having to clean up after someone exploded in the bathroom and didnt clean up after themselves (toilet, walls, floor). Crew didnt properly attach brick to siding of the house casuing pipes to freeze. Crew lost our lockbox key in the snow! Crews continually asking us where things were (water main, electrical panels etc.) as they were never told. Our tub was dragged upstairs causing chips in the acrylic which were fixed with a SHARPIE! Arched glass door was installed 4 times as the drywall and carpenters never worked together. Half wall of lapboard was pulled and reinstalled as the incorrect side was installed. HVAC vent in bathroom was tiled over! The only time we received a call from Paul (that was not a call back) was when he needed money. With each bill we were expected to leave a check within a day or two. We pushed back on signing the completion certificate and paying the last bill (as there were items left unfixed and we didnt feel we got the value we expected) we were threatened indicating that we would need to go to court and that their contract doesnt make any references to the quality of the project management. Only that we would receive the installed items as indicated in the contract. Although this may be true, their commercials and the way they present themselves leads you to believe that you should expect a good experience. Clearly not the case. Three months (and $$$) later we still had a dinged up interior glass door that doesnt latch properly, dings and dents throughout the house that were never fixed and now the caulking within our white tiled shower has all turned the lovely shade of urine. And I dont even have the energy to call them as I really dont want to deal with them anymore. So in summary, if you are busy and want someone to handle all the details, dont bother with Normandy. The premium you pay isnt in the quality of their work or smooth running of their projects, it likely goes to their advertising company to come up with slick ads that make you cringe every time you hear them.

We hired Normandy for a curb appeal overhaul that included the design and construction of a new front porch. Our home has been transformed, our neighbors are complimenting us, and we feel great about the entire experience. We chose Normandy for two primary reasons: 1) They had done two major additions on our home (for a previous owner) and the craftsmanship still stands out today. We wanted to hire a company with a lot of experience that would do the job correctly the first time around, and a company that would stand behind their work. 2) The design created by Jeremy Paris elevated our vision for what was possible with our curb appeal. He transformed a 1950's ranch into a home that is current and relevant with todays trends and styles. He understood exactly what we wanted and exceeded our expectations. During the consultative process, he was always cost conscious and went above and beyond to help us make decisions that added value while saving money. We had high expectations when the construction began and Normandy never let us down. We began an outside project in January. Despite adverse weather, the contractors (cement, framing, roofing and carpentry) were all on-time, respectful, never idle, and worked every day until the project was done. We always felt that our project was a priority and we were never waiting on another job to be finished. We had direct and nearly immediate feedback from our superintendent, Brian Preston. He was always on top of things which allows us to stay relaxed throughout the process. He told us what to expect in advance, kept us informed of progress, and addressed all of our concerns. We knew we made the right decision to hire Normandy, but what really convinced us was when the former superintendent and carpenter from our homes 1990s addition - independently - stopped by to check on our current project. They were exceedingly proud of their work and had no doubt that it would have stood the test of time. They really cared about what they had accomplished many years back as they told us stories about the construction. In todays world, when contractors rarely return a phone call, it is refreshing to find a company whose contractors are invested for their entire career.

I initially met Vince Weber on a tour of Kitchens in Winnetka and admired his handiwork. I took his card and called him to come look at our kitchen. We had a pretty clear idea of what we wanted to do but he was so easy to work with and really helped us to refine our vision. We decided to use Normandy to remodel our kitchen. The remodel involved taking everything down to the studs and taking out part of a wall. Before demolition started, Vince gave us a schedule of what would be done each week and when our payments were due and Normandy stuck to that schedule. There were no surprises or extra fees. There were people here working every day. I never had to call and say, "what about this"....they really thought of everything. Al Lovas was our GC and was always available for questions and always got right back to me when I called or texted. We were thrilled with the way our kitchen turned out! So thrilled in fact that we used Normandy again to take off our old front porch and replace it with a half open-porch and half mudroom configuration. We constantly have neighbors stop by to comment on how much better the house looks and how they love what we have done. I cannot recommend Vince and Al and all the Normandy guys highly enough. I have referred several friends to them and everyone has had the same experience. I hope you give them a try because using Normandy was the best decision we ever made. Sincerely, A Very Satisfied Customer

We're so sorry to hear you had a bad experience on the roads with someone in a Normandy vehicle. Our company is based out of Chicagoland and we don't work outside Illinois, so there's really no reason for there to even be a Normandy vehicle in Iowa, let alone driving erratically. We will reach out to our entire staff to make sure they understand that this is unacceptable behavior on the roads, with a special attempt to identify the person you interacted with for further coaching. If you have any additional details that would help us track down who this might be, we'd be grateful for the information. You can reach out at [email protected].

I did not use this company, however the driver of one of the trucks driving in Iowa, almost caused an accident. It was a 3 lane Im in the farthest left, hes in the middle Im passing and he turned on his signal and started to merge, literally 5ft from hitting us and didnt even react, luckily I was able to hit the brakes and no one was behind me buddy failed to even check his mirrors. Absolutely disrespectful. Needs to brush up on his driving skills !!
