I called and did the online form to set up an appointment took a few days for a response, but hey he's the "busiest blind man." Talked to him on the phone and set up a time for him to come see my windows he said he could do 6 o'clock on Wednesday. I told him I could make it work, but my 1 year old goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00. Wednesday comes around and 6 O'Clock comes and goes and he didn't come. No call. I proceeded to do bath and bed per our usual routine and as I'm walking downstairs after putting my one year old to bed (after 7pm at this point) calls me and tells me he is running late and it would be around 30 minutes before he can get there. I tell him that won't work. He talked me into rescheduling, but he was leaving for vacation the next day (everyone needs a break, no problem) so he would have another guy come by. We set it up for 10 or 10:30. I went in to work extra early and hustled back home so I could meet them (45min each way). Guess what...after 11:30 before they showed up. The two guys were nice and respectful, but unfortunately they only installed blinds and knew very little about the different product offerings. They measured for shutters and were going to give me a price on the spot, but I had to leave to get back to work, so I asked them to email it to me. 2 weeks later still no price. Unfortunate because I really needed some window coverings (brand new house) and he looked to be highly rated online. I guess the "busiest blind man in middle Tennessee," is simply too busy.

It was a great compliment that after accomplishing a job with Kelly 4 years ago that she thought of me again to call on me for a second job. It is also regrettable that due to unfortunate events I was not able to comply with an on time appointment and I understand all her grievances that are written above. The rest of this is for anyone else who reads that lengthy complaint. I have been doing window treatments for over 15 years and not one time have I ever asked anyone of my clients to miss work or use vacation time so that I could sit at their house and talk window treatments. My appointments with my clients are set by my clients and that way it is on their best approved time not mine. Thats also why you will find me out working late into the evening hours to accommodate my clientele. I wish that day would have started out better but there are many other window treatment companies in middle Tennessee that can and I am sure will oblige Kelly Ford with her window treatment needs.

I would have been a reoccurring customer, however, I don't have time to twiddle my thumbs waiting on someone to show up for an appointment that was booked days ago. Rewind to 4 years ago, we used Duff to install blinds in our new construction home, once we actually got him out there to install, the product was fine. Got the quote back, it was well priced and we set a date for install. Then the installation date got pushed back twice for various reasons; the blinds were on backorder from his distributor (plain white faux wood blinds, nothing special) and then he was on vacation (that's ok, I get it). On the date of installation, he was very, very late to our appointment and did not end up leaving our house until almost 11 pm. Why would I remember this? Well, because I had a 2 year old that would not go to bed while everyone else was up. It was a nightmare. BUT, the blinds were in and I moved on with my life. Fast forward to the present and we have built a new home and need blinds. I called Duff's Blinds twice (a few days apart) and left messages before I got a text that he was sorry for the delay and was "slammed" (I'm busy too buddy. I have two young kids and a job too where I travel frequently... but I digress) but he could meet me at 10 am on Friday. Well, I get a text at 9:30 am Friday that it was going to be 10:30 am. Ok, I say (kind of perturbed because I took vacation time from work to meet him, but ok, things happen). I text back at 10:36 am for an ETA and get a text back that he *hopes* to be there in 20 min. Wait, WHAT? Did I miss a text that he sent to let me know that it was going to be an additional 20 minutes???? (Thumbing through texts...) NOPE. I would not have been aware had I not asked for an ETA. So I cancel the appointment. He did offer to meet me later that day, but honestly, how do I even know he will show up on time or at all?? And at that point my husband and kids would be there too whining for dinner. Plus, I TOOK PERSONAL TIME OFF from work for this morning appointment. This seems to be a trend or at the least, we are very unlucky when it comes to a timely experience with Duff. Bottom line is this, the product the first time we hired him was fine, reasonably priced. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that this was an isolated experience and decided to use him again for our new house. HOWEVER, when the second interaction starts out this way, I no longer can assume the best. I will just pay a little extra elsewhere in order to be able to rely on the person. By the way, while waiting on Duff, I counted my windows. I needed 26 window coverings. It was not a "small" job.
