Dear Sir, Can I firstly thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. Its always disappointing to receive less than favourable comments, especially when our family run business is built upon quality service and the professionalism of our technicians. These facts are evidenced as you yourself mentioned by the previous highly praising reviews left by previous customers of ours. That said, let me assure you, I have fully investigated all your points and spoken to all involved. I understand the majority of your comments were dealt with at the time, with elements of miscommunication on both our parts causing extra frustrations. However, where our team were possibly at fault, I believe they have already apologised and provided full explanations. All our customers are important to us and we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service. If you remain unhappy or require further clarification of any of the work undertaken, then please do call in as we are here to help.

Not impressed. I went here to get my camper an MOt as they came highly recommended, and given their HGV/PSV work I expected a good level of attention to detail. While I expected a couple of fail points (I wanted to get a fail list before I bought parts), there was an erroneous one thrown in there too. The MOT tester refused to believe me that the rear reflectors were built into the tail light lenses, and refused to look at the vehicle with me. I didn't want to get into an argument though, so I added a couple of additional ones at driver eye level...you can't be too visible anyway...more on that below. Following the MOT I took the van home while I waited for parts to arrive, and ticked most stuff off...had it booked in for them to do the steering and brake system work. When they examined the vehicle they phoned me to advise that the rear brakes needed a complete rebuild. Fair enough...but the gent on the phone also listed that the propshaft CV boot needed to be replaced...which I'd done the day before. Just gave me the "have you actually looked at the van?" sort of vibe. Nevertheless, a day later I had the van back with a fresh test. Issues found when I got the van home: [] Removed old parts I had requested to retain were not provided. [] Split pin missing from the steering drag link ball joint they had fitted. [] Three out of the five wheel nuts on the nearside front wheel not fully tightened. [] Brake fluid reservoir was so badly overfilled that it spilled all over the bulkhead and servo, so I'll need to remove the brake servo, clutch master cylinder etc to repaint the back of the engine bay. [] Headlight aim adjustment was listed as having been adjusted...I did that the day before myself. It's a five minute job, but shouldn't have been necessary. [] Greasy fingerprints all over the shop - it's a white van so they stick out like a sore thumb. [] Handbrake is barely adequate...was really good before they rebuilt the rear brakes. [] The tester managed to not only miss the factory fitted reflectors, but also the ones I'd fitted...so they stuck yet more of them on the bumper (in a way that actually impaired the side on view of the indicators). These were fitted squint too so had to go. Unfortunately removing them damaged the paintwork, so I'll need to get the bumper repainted now. A couple of these things I'd have let slip at quiet backstreet garage prices...but this was 550 worth of work at a large professional outfit so I expected better. Especially when you're talking about safety critical things like brakes. I went to them as I'd assumed their HGV/PCV background and the good reviews meant they would have an eye for detail...apparently I was wrong. I very likely won't be going back, even though you're not exactly swamped with choice for getting work done on a large vehicle around here. On the plus side, the staff on the front desk were really polite and helpful and they were able to fit me in at short notice. That flexibility is probably the main reason I'd end up back there. Hopefully I just had work done by an apprentice engineer having a bad day, as the reviews here left me expecting better. Let's hope for better in future.

Dear Emma, as a small family business, its been devastating to see such a negative review directed at our company. We cannot comment on the service you have received from Halfords or any other company you have had dealings with while trying to resolve this matter. Egertons Fleet Services was simply contacted to conduct an independent investigation into what could have occurred and to report any findings or potential faults with the vehicle as a direct result of the potentially faulty battery. Our invoice of work and investigation notes were submitted back to Halfords as they requested, and no further action was taken. As you can imagine were hugely disappointed that youve felt the need to verbally attack our small business with comments of incompetence. We assure you, our business prides itself on the professionalism of its staff and our good name, we ask you to reconsider your review and not to punish us for failings outside of our control.

Unbelieveable incompetence - our car was taken to Egertons for repair as arranged by Halfords after a faulty Halfords battery blew up our car. After a lengthy saga taking months and causing lots of stress and worry, it was found that due to Egertons not knowing nor finding out how to start our Vintage Jeep, they disconnected a cable to bypass the starter motor and blamed the car not starting on the starter motor. When the car was returned to our local garage this cable was left disconnected. This caused a lengthy dispute with Halfords - we only found this was the cause of the issue by doing some investigation ourselves and discovering the disconnected cable. I'm just updating now in light of Egertons response to my review. They were asked by Halfords (to our knowledge) to repair our car due to the damage caused by the faulty battery. They replaced some blown fuses but could not start our car due to their incompetence and blamed this on a faulty starter motor. So to say all they were asked to do was report back to Halfords is not accurate. There was no issue whatsoever with the starter motor on our car and our car is now fully functioning without issue now that we have reconnected the cable they disconnected to bypass the starter motor. Top tip - if you can't diagnose an issue with a car, don't just make something up. Because of the issues your incorrect report caused, we were on the verge of taking Halfords to court and incurring substantial legal fees.
