Candace spent very little time cutting my hair and the layers looked very bad - they were way too short and not blended in at all so it looked like I had a poorly constructed ladder leading up my head...luckily I was able to get a refund and had to go somewhere else to get it fixed
I'll say first, I've had one haircut here, and I liked it. The guy wasn't super friendly, but that was alright. I booked online, they have a parking lot, was in and out, deserved a nice tip, good experience. I booked my next haircut online as well (was very booked) and upon arrival, found I was double booked with someone else. It was a hassle to get there that day, but that's not their fault. They said I could wait for 4 hours or come back on Saturday, which was not cool, but I booked the latter. Saturday comes and I was running a few minutes late so I called to let them know-- gave my ETA and they said no problem. On arrival, he was finishing up with previous haircut so, I was relieved. After waiting a few minutes for him to finish up, he starts to check me in, and then tells me, since I'm now 12 minutes late, he couldn't take me - that I could wait THREE HOURS if I wanted. I pleaded with the guy for a minute with no avail. Needless to say, I won't be returning. The problem wasn't the scheduling or my proximity-- it's how they handled the situations: very poorly.
My first cut here was with Eddie who unfortunately went to work somewhere else. He did a good job; best haircut i had had in years. I think the service is pretty good no matter which barber you have, but it can be difficult to get an appointment - be sure to schedule a week in advance.
I have been going to Deep Blue since 2014 after moving from New York to Boston. Sylvia is amazing!!! I trust very, very few hairstylists with my thick, curly hair; however Sylvia understood my hair and texture from the beginning and never attempted to flat iron it to death. She always provides great feedback and is hysterically funny, so every appointment left me with great hair and lots of laughs. Sylvia works hard, and its evident in her commitment to the salon and barbershop. Also, their products are incredible! I have a sensitive scalp and asthma, so hair salons oftentimes leave my gasping for air. Their products mean you dont walk into the salon needing an oxygen tank. All in all, its an awesome salon with great people! Those with curly hair should definitely feel safe with Deep Blue!!
I like the barber service that Paul at Deep Blue provides but the barber shop just moved into the basement which is much less pleasing than the previous ground floor space. Not sure yet if I'll keep coming back.
