Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for any confusion, but this is a clear misunderstanding. As you may know, barbershops are working on an appointment-only basis due to mandated safety precautions. Our barbers are particularly busy and have full schedules on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. When you arrived, your barber Jay was not free and when we checked, he wasn't going to be free for another 10+ minutes. The gentleman that walked in after you had an appointment with Michael as his barber, and the last customer in Michael's chair was finishing up so he was ready to take this customer. It was 100% about which barber was free to take the next appointment and not about age, gender or your skin color. We are proud to have very strict precautions against COVID-19 in order to protect our barbers, clients and team members. We require temperature checks at check in We require all clients and barbers to disinfect their hands during service. We filter the air in the shop using our state of the art UV-C filtration system. Most importantly, we do not allow people to wait in the shop unless their appointment is imminent. This explanation was attempted both in person by our staff and by phone. In both instances, you refused to hear our explanation. Our owners, barbers and team members are all beautifully diverse as is our clients, whom we love. We are very disappointed that you interpreted our safety precautions as discriminatory. This is a very serious accusation that we do not take lightly and we have tried multiple times to reach out. Feel free to call us at (718) 551-2404 as we would like to discuss further. Sincerely, AOTB Team

So, I had a very sad experience at the ART OF BARBER LOCATION. After a long day of work I headed to the barber shop to get a haircut I made an appointment for 5:00 pm. When I arrived I was told to please wait outside since theyre exercising social distancing I immediately obliged. There was only one gentleman waiting to be seeing. I stood outside and I was on my phone when I see another gentleman walk in. I noticed he never came back out,and when I looked inside he was sitting down. I asked the man at the desk who I know now is the owner, how come he was allowed to sit when he asked me to wait outside. He stated that he went outside to look for me ,which is a lie. I told him to cancel my appointment. To be honest regardless that the owner himself is Hispanic, he discriminated against me by having me wait outside, whereas the other gentleman is Caucasian . He called me on the phone to explain and I told him about his bias act and responded by telling me that he is also Hispanic. That , by no means holds water. Plain blank. He discriminated against me. Also the other gentleman that was sitting inside was not even a customer. He was waiting for his friend who was getting a haircut. How come he didnt tell him to wait outside? Because he acts biased toward minorities. He doesnt want to lose his business, hence , his clientele I usually go to LEDO but it so happens that the gentleman that cuts my hair was working on that location on the day of my appointment. I will never step inside that shop ever again and I will let my friends know about my experience. LEDO is the best option.
