In 2 words: stay away. I started in one of their residence (SOFI Cedar Mill) for a year and it has been nothing short of a huge disappointment and troubles, quite the opposite picture than what their lousy sales person had mentioned before we signed our lease. Let me explain a few of the issues weve had: 1. Any questions we asked before signing (basic questions one would ask before signing a 14 months lease) were not clearly answered and when asking for clarity, the feedback was theres a lot of people interested in the flat, if you do not sign, its ok including a scene in front of another person that had just seen the apartment before we signed. Not speaking English very well (had just moved here from abroad) I was in shocked and felt discriminated. In other words, we got rushed to signed the lease and I felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman. (That person no longer works at SOFI, it seems) 2. After signing the lease, that same person wouldnt let us report anything wrong with the apartment in writing, saying things like (pointing at stains on the wall or carpet) oh this is OK, no big deal, no need to report, the carpet is changed after you move out anyway. Which turned out to be a critical mistake for us, and made us understand why they did this at move out. (See below) 3. Our new house was finished ahead of schedule, so we had to move out 2 months before the end of the 14 months lease. On top of paying the 1.5 rent as a penalty (as expected per lease) heres how the move out process went: they would not accept a move out inspection so we could make sure everything was left like when we moved in supposedly due to COVID-19 (even though their office was still open sketchy) and provided with unclear move out instructions. We left the apartment in even better condition than it was found, but because we could not report little issues when moved in (#1 above). They came back with photos of things damaged for years, charged us with an enhanced carpet cleaning (even though it was supposed to be replaced as per #1) as well as apartment cleaning. After I showed photos I took after inspection, they back tracked and said the apartment was clean but the cleaning fee was a sanitization fee (not mentioned anywhere in the lease, or the Oregon law). When I read this I threatened to sue them in small court claims and they then back-tracked their offer to refund part of the cleaning fee. All of the other reviews mentioning noise issues (a real and painful issue there) as well as plenty of appliances issue, poorly repaired are all true. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this residence, any of SOFIs residences or Cushman & Wakefield properties. I will now move forward with court and report them to the Better Business Bureau. Onward.
