Aloha James, I am a little confused with your review. You came in with your inflatable doughnut and sat down in the front of the store while myself and staff both went in the back and helped your granddaughter for a good 20 minutes plus, showing her multiple boards matching her experience and budget. I have the shop video if you would prefer to dispute this, I find it unprofessional and lacking in taste that you write a two star review that is false, additionally calling us ghetto was highly immature. We take customer service to heart and highly value our customers regardless if they are visiting, local, or going away to Portugal. I am not sure if you understand what a surfboard costs and what a good starter board is for someone such as your granddaughter (we would never sell a board to someone that isn't the right fit). If she was unable to find a good board for herself or if a price was not working we would be happy to contact the seller and work the price down, she never asked questions about pricing. You then quickly left and jumped into your uber (probably for your next beer from what most of your reviews look like) and we even said goodbye and have a wonderful day (again all on video). Also your review is full of typos and grammar mistakes, that's the definition of ghetto there.

Unless your a local, or on your way to Portugal forget going here... no one really wanted to help us our Granddaughter wants to start surfing and we were looking for a cheep starter board for her, and this place is in the absolute ghetto. The dog was great though, that's why you get a 2 star rating...
Aloha Michael, Could you please email us directly ([email protected]) to figure out what might have happened, I have not received ANY COMMUNICATIONS VIA PHONE MESSAGES, and don't understand why an EMAIL was not sent to us in regards to this issue). I can tell you with 100% certainty that we have NEVER had a shipment sit in our shop for five weeks and we will gladly show you and the public the exact amount of time it was at the shop between payment and shipment time (which is surely not five plus weeks). For the fluctuation in shipping costs the airlines set the costs of shipping, just like with purchasing a ticket when flying the rates go up and down constantly with availability, especially with international shipments. Ive bought a few boards from Used Surfboards Hawaii. Always had good experiences. I recommend this shop to many friends over the years. However, the last time my friend from from Europe wanted to ship a board from Hawaii to Europe and the owner said no problem... So she bought the board, surfed it once, then we go to ship it and the cost to ship was $120 more than the owner originally quoted, he didnt ship it out for over 5 weeks after we dropped it off, and then the guy would not return any of our calls when we tried to check on the status... no follow up. No tracking number. Just straight up bad business etiquette. Rude. Im done recommending you guys and will buy my boards elseware. Go back to the mainland or try adding some aloha to your company culture.

Ive bought and sold multiple boards here. The customer service is out of this world. No matter how busy the shop is they take time to make sure you find the exact board thats right for you. Twice Ive told Alex exactly what Im looking for, he disappears into the back, and comes back with the perfect board exactly as I described. Zero pressure sales environment and overall a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

Although I've never surfed (and probably never will), I sometimes need surfboards for props or signage. Not only does he have a huge selection, but he has a "back room" with boards down to $50 that are still very useable. Super nice guy and I wish my dog could do as many tricks as his can!

Botchy repairs. I had taken a couple boards here to get some dings and cracks repaired. The first one had its ding repaired but when I went to pick it up, another new dent had somehow appeared. The owner was cool and offered to repair that free of charge but that dent happened after I had dropped the board off. Eh, mistakes happen. When I took my second board in for a repair on the rail it was very unprofessional. It was my main board to ride and had one pressure dent from my back foot. When I go to pick it up I notice there's another unfamilliar pressure dent beside the one I had embedded. I don't know who he outsources to but it's like a game of Russian roulette. I would not recommend board repair services but it's not a bad place to buy used boards. Plenty of options for versatile surfing styles.
