I own a 1981 Jeep Wagoneer with a faulty tailgate window (plagued Wagoneers.) I had the window removed and needed to have the tailgate window channel replaced (had previously ordered from the dealer and was in,) and needed the window reinstalled. I had forgone all diagnostics etc to have the window mechanism fixed and only needed the window re-install. It's a window that fits into a channel, not complicated, not sealed on four sides. I get down there and they want to charge me two hours of labor or $208 to do the install, and to boot I would have to come back the next day to do so because their "window and seals" guy wasn't in today. So I wasted my time coming from Portland to Milwaukie only to be told I'd have to come back again tomorrow. All of this could have been told to me on the phone when I made the appointment. When told this the girl responded something to the affect of "I must have misunderstood on the phone"...what's to misunderstand?, "I have a 1981 Jeep Wagoneer that has the tailgate window removed, I ordered the window seal from you and need the window reinstalled." Waste of my gas, waste of my time. Won't be bothering returning.
Dropped off for oil change. On the way home noticed steam, and discovered plastic top radiator cracked. Drove right back within 15 minutes and they said, not us, must have happened when you went over a bump or something. Handed me two bottles of stop leak and sent me on my way. Called back and told them this was not right. They said keep adding stop leak and recommended I get some more. Finally I had the radiator replaced elsewhere. . Kept overheating. Had all kinds of parts replaced, finally I brought it back and left it there. They said the leak was now coming from the heater core. Replaced, Then I went back and told the it was still over heating, They said it was the water pump. Paid, replaced. A week later I went back, overheating again. They said it must have overheated too much as now I needed a head gasket and it would cost $3,000 plus and that I was best off to just get rid of the car. I let it sit and finally decided to replace the head gasket. All the little coolant holes near the gasket were FULL OF FIBER! Yes all that stop leak PLUGGED IT UP! I called back and spoke to Terry, asked them to come and look at the engine, to see what happened. Remember, they had no problem taking my money for a water pump without testing, to see if that was really going on. Only to say it was the head gasket a week later. This is after the radiator and everything else. Terry, the Service Manager indicated that I was on my own. So the lesson is?
I recently found a beautiful Ford F-150 on the Town & Country website and scheduled a time to meet with Erik Kalik from the Internet Sales department. The truck was priced very well and was in fantastic condition. The sales service I received from Eric was friendly and informative. Sam from financing personally took care of us by finding a financing package that worked for our budget. The entire process was very straight-forward and there was none of the "Let me go talk with my manager" routine that I've experienced at other dealerships. My car buying experience at Town & Country was not only painless but quick, easy and fair. I recommend them to anyone.
One of the worst experiences I have had buying a car. They were more focused on making a one time deal than a life time customer. The salesman was extremely pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer despite telling them multiple times we wanted to sleep on it. Granted I could have made a choice and walked out, but they had us good by having the only vehicle and color I wanted for hundreds of miles. In addition their detailing service was horrible. We had to send it back to get cleaned and should have sent it back again, but it wasn't worth the trouble since it took them so long and left me waiting for hours. I could point out multiple other areas of concern but its not worth it. My family has been in the car business for 30+ years and this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. It wasn't all bad I guess. The lady who gave us our tax refund was pretty nice.
