Dear Murali, I just found your review. I'd appreciate an opportunity to address your concerns about the Acura. Part of your review was also cut off so I'd like to get more details. Would you reach out to me? Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Chevrolet [email protected]

Smoking Mirrors would be my description of the place. So as I started my car search I set my sights on the Acura TSX. I spent almost a month reviewing through every possible car in the tri-state area. These searches lead me to East Hills Chevy. I was introduced to Joe who was helpful at first and I guess he earned my trust. I was a bit apprehensive about buying an Acura from a non-certified dealer and he had assured me that dealers use those terms to make more money and that east Hills Chevy had a similar certification process. Once it came down to financing all the games started. Prior to coming to the dealership I had asked him what rate I would be getting and he said that it was something he did not know and that I would need to talk to their department (that to me was a bit sketchy). Regardless I went over. I was there for about 4 hours before their finance team took care of me. As I waited I kept asking Joe about the rate and he proceeded to tell me that I would definitely get something competitive since I had a good credit score. I sit down and get inundated with forms and signatures and then finally they tell me that I am getting a 7.9% rate with valley National (Which is about 3.5% hire than what I was approved). Also, Valley National as a bank is a complete Joke (Its been over a month and I have had to call the bank 3 times to get my receipts. Also the customer service rep told me that he did not have email since I had to write a letter to their department to remove the late charge since I did not receive my packet - If this bank is ever presented to you my advice is bail!) Alright, so it was a lesson well learned on my end but it did not stop there. About 3 weeks later I took my car over to a nearby dealership due to a ticking noise that I heard on the right side. The dealership did a diagnosis for free and told me that my rear brake pads and rotors were pretty worn (FYI - This is on a 2009 car with 26000 miles - almost impossible). After quoting me about $500+ for everything I was so aggravated that I called Joe and I explained the situation. Almost immediately he says that they were trying to take advantage of me without asking me about any technical details. After I told him that I felt that he was being unreasonable he tells me to bring my car in. I get there and spend 2 hours watching my car on a lift with no one in sight - the mechanic brings it down to go on a test drive (figured they would started with that...anyway). He then puts in back on the lift for another 2 hours and then tells me that they can't order the Acura part since it was too late. I insisted that I needed a loaner since I needed to have this done. The car that they gave me (please remember that this is a dealership) was a HHC that had terrible brakes (car rattled every time I tried to stop), gas tank with less than quarter tank of gas, a wad of paper towels stuffed in the cup holder, food crumbs and stains all over the seats - just disgusting. I bit my tongue and drove on. The next day I comeback to see my car still on the lift and the guy replaced the brake pads (with after market parts) and resurfaced the rotors. About an hour and a half later he gets it done and we do a test drive. Lets just say that it felt better temporarily. Two days later and surprise - the squeak is back! You might feel like you are saving a few bucks at first but if you are looking for great service, a dealership that stands by their cars and also a place that allows you to find competitive finance rates save yourself a few headaches, $$ and cliché car salesmen.

Dear llz1609: I'm sorry we did not earn your trust during today's service visit. We at East Hills Chevrolet strive to provide a world-class experience. When appointments are set, we make it a point to check for any recalls or warranty items. Most of the time, the recalls can be accomplished pretty easily. It would appear in your case, your Equinox's computer would not accept the software download. We tried repeatedly to get this software to download but we were unable to do so. Our technicians were aware of your time constraint; however once they began the download, it tripped the computer and caused the service light to illuminate. I apologize for the condition of our waiting area. Our dealership has been undergoing a huge renovation that includes a brand new showroom, a brand new service write-up area, and a brand new customer waiting lounge. We expect all of these renovations to be complete in the next three weeks. I understand we completed your oil change and that Frank Cristaudo, Service Manager, did not charge you for this. I am also told that Frank extended an invitation to come back when you've got more time so we can complete the recall on your Equinox. I hope you will take us up on this offer. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Chevrolet [email protected]

I brought my car (perfectly fine w/o any service light on) in for a simple oil change this morning, waited for 2 hours, got my car back with a service light on!! On top of that, after waiting for 2 hours in a crappy waiting room (I made an appointment and arrived on time), I asked for the status of my car, then I found out they had a problem since the tire pressure light came up while they were checking my car! Apparently the mechanics had no idea what they were doing. And if I didn't ask for the status, they would have let me sit in the waiting room for god know how long! When I complained about the wait time to the rep, he basically told me making an appointment didn't mean anything! I will never go back to this place, horrible services, terrible waiting room conditions, worse of all, mechanics don't know what they are doing! Now I need to make another appointment with another dealer to fix the problem this dealer created, what a waste of time!

Flavio Cepeda was great! He was knowledgeable, personable and not pushy. He made the process easy and answered all our questions about the car we chose. He put up with us returning numerous times, showed us quite a few models while explaining the difference between them and helped us pick the right car for us.

Dear Jeanne, I am responding to your review, but I remain a little confused. As soon as I read this review, I sent it to our Service Director, Ed Collura. He reached out to you and spoke to you and you mentioned everything was fine and there should be no negative review online. Please reach out to Ed if everything is not fine. His phone number is 718-279-5300. If you believe the wiper blades should not have been replaced, please also bring this to Ed's attention. As far as the $1,000 visit is concerned, the 40k service plus the rear brakes, plus the throttle service plus the oil change, could very well have exceeded $1,000. I will ask Ed to reinforce with our service writers the need to present in advance the cost of a service visit with each service broken out. I researched why your oil changes are not $7. While you are enrolled in AutoAwards, there are 2 levels of membership. The first is Platinum Elite and customers who bought cars from us after AutoAwards was created are enrolled at this level. Everyone else is enrolled as a Preferred Service level. Our records indicate your 2011 Malibu was purchased 4/5/11. AutoAwards began after that date. We remain at your service. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us should you need anything at all. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Chevrolet of Douglaston [email protected]

I am pleased for the most part. There is one matter, however, that I am not at all pleased about. Nearly every time my car is brought for service I am TOLD the wiper blades were replaced. Never asked. Maybe once. The car is 2 years old. You can check the service records to see how many times the wiper blades have been replaced. Since this costs $45 I think I should be the one to make the decision and perhaps purchase them elsewhere. The next time I am TOLD the blades were replaced (and the order is marked "customer states" when I did NOT) I will not pay for them. I spent over $1000 for a visit that was supposed to be a $39.95 oil change and tire rotation. I asked for the 40K service. I was never informed up front of the total cost since I was told I also needed rear brakes and throttle service once the car was being serviced. Those costs were never given. Luckily I had a checkbook with me. What would have happened if I did not have enough in my account? Honestly, these issues never came up under the old management. I had a 1998 Monte Carlo that was serviced only there (Bay Chevrolet). I had that car until I purchased the 2011 Malibu. Never once did I have an issue. George Santos contacted me for every little item if the car was left there. Bring him and his team back. Also, according the rewards statement on the back of my invoice I am only supposed to pay $7 for oil changes and lubes. Why do I need a coupon to get a discount and pay $39.95? If there was a Chevrolet dealership closer to where I work (Melville) I think I would bring it there.
