I asked 3 people what I would be charged and what my insurance covered BEFORE my visit. I told the first two that I didn't want to go through with the appointment if I'd have to pay $95-$165 as the paperwork said. Finally, the second lady said to ask in the back, so I asked in the back. The third person assured me AND showed me the paperwork that said I had a $10 copay and $200 towards contact lenses. So I went through with the appointment. At the end, of course, I got stuck with a $145 bill. The third lady told me she thought I was talking about just the contact lenses. I should have asked her what the total visit was going to cost. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I asked you what my insurance covers. Your answer should have been your insurance covers the contact lenses but not the exam. She tried to blame my insurance for not covering the exam. No ma'am, I asked and you conveniently omitted the cost. Now, I'll be pulling my family from this practice. The excellent doctors suffer for the horrible staff.
They violated a federal trade commission rule and Florida law by not providing me with written prescription for my contact lenses. I have to pay cash for care- which is a huge benefit to the doctor not having to negotiate with insurance. I paid 280 dollars for a contact update and over 379 dollars for what were supposed to be their cheapest monthly lenses. What a joke. I have been to many other eye doctors, and it cost about half as much. These doctors are making a fortune on our backs. I have reported them to the federal trade commission and Florida attorney general for failing to provide a written prescription following my examinations.
The staff are friendly, and Dr. Nowell's knowledge and professionalism are top notch. He took the time to sit down and go over my concerns, and he answered my questions without judgment. You can tell he really cares about his patients. I am thoroughly impressed with Southwest Orlando Eye Care. Fantastic team and facility!

A pity there isn't a branch near to me in Oviedo; however that aside the office was neatly laid out and clean, and the staff was professional, especially Jessy and Dr Nowell who both attended to me. Jessy was pleasant, polite, informative, explained the process, and was patient; so was Dr Nowell. I will endeavor to make Southwest Orlando Eye Care my primary eye service provider.
Any doctor that doesn't place an emphasis on customer service is not worth patronizing. We had three terrible experiences with this office and now we're looking for a new eye doctor.
