A request was made to have my dogs records forwarded to a different vet after having her assessed at Harlingen for an ear infection and an eyelid skin issue. We felt like we needed a second opinion because she was still constantly shaking her head and scratching her ears and eyes. No records were forwarded. I contacted the office a second time to ask for the documents to be forwarded. While on that call, I was interrupted several times, spoken to rudely, and called lazy by the receptionist, Dani. After talking to Dr. Oakley about the unprofessional treatment, he assured me that he would get to the bottom of it and call me back to discuss Fifis treatment in the future. Unfortunately, Dr. Oakley did not call me back and said he emailed me a response after speaking to his staff. Apparently, in that email, he also canceled an upcoming appointment to have my other dog spayed. I never received the email. Although Dr. Oakley apologized for the unprofessional behavior and admitted that his staff was rude and admitted to the name-calling, I was dropped as a client of the veterinary group. He stated that my desire to avoid interaction with the one receptionist could not make it so his group could care for our dogs.
Been a client of this practice for 12+ years. Have 4 labradors and a cat. This practice has 100% changed. Money hungry, over diagnosing and fast talking you out of there. Runs late for ALL appointments with no notice. Booked me an appointment for my 12 year old dogs cough at 5pm. Came out to get him at 5:30pm (understandable at the end of the day). Couldnt do anything to address my concerns besides give pain med and call in 2 weeks. I was told he needs an xray, but I you know this, youve been here before. We cannot do an X-ray at 5pm. They dont have the staff and are running behind. I need to make another appointment and come back. Unbelievable. Love this practice but will NEVER go back. Also- have vaccinated my dog with the same vaccine twice in one day.
We started coming to Harlingen Veterinary Clinic last year, for our 3 cats, after we moved to the area . Even with COVID-19, everything has run very smooth with the appointments. The doctors and staff are so knowledgeable, caring and patient. Thanks for taking such good care of Rusty, Martini & Stout !
I have been a client of this clinic for @ least 15 years and have seen it change from a very accommodating office to a very busy, very expensive place of business. Admittidly, I missed our appointment yesterday by 30 minutes, and was told by the receptionist that they could not see my dog who was suffering from diarrhea, but offered to reschedule in 11 days. Alternatively, I could take the dog to an ER. I asked for my pet's paper records and was dismissively told by Dani (whose rude behavior was noted by a prior reviewer) that I could have them 2 days from now. I don't think I have ever encountered such a rude person representing a business. After a bit of back and forth, Dr Oakley intervened and provided me with copies of vaccination records. Surprisingly, neither he nor the staff could care less about losing a client of 15 years. That speaks volumes about this clinic to me. I guess It's business as usual as long as these employees are not being inconvenienced. Having said this, I've always enjoyed the professionalism of Drs Newman and Zydiak, but we won't be going back. I did find a very accommodating office right around the corner.
