We are very sorry to hear that your trip did not meet your expectations. Just to be clear, you participated in the 3-Day Easton Glacier Set-date climb, not the 3-day Mountaineering Course. The 3-day mountaineering course does not have a summit day, which has been the center of your complaint. It was a hard decision for our guides to turn you around before going up the Roman Wall in the firm conditions we encountered. At the end of the day getting everyone up and down safely remains our top priority. The fact that a non-guided group fell down the same slope and required a helicopter rescue just 3 hours after your turn leads us to believe it was the prudent decision. We wish you the best of luck as you move into learning more about climbing and continue to develop your skills and comfort level with being in the mountains.

Dont waste your time or money with the Intro to Mountaineering (3 day) course. You wont learn crevasse rescue, and if your a small fish in a big climbing group, youll get neglected. Additionally, I wouldnt trust their security practices for transactions, they accept credit card info in clear text
Thanks Tara! Happy to hear that you had a good experience and came away feeling more confident with your climbing skills. Best of luck in your climbing endeavors.

Took the 5 day mountaineering course with a Baker summit at the end, as well as summited Glacier Peak with guides from Northwest Mountain School. Both trips were led by fantastic guides (Olivia and Sam for Glacier and Dallas and Ben for Baker), were well organized, educational, and fun! Thanks to Dallas and Ben, I walked away from the mountaineering course feeling confident in multiple crampon techniques, traveling steeper slopes, rope travel and keeping a tidy camp! And it was great to summit Glacier being led by two amazing women guides! I wouldnt hesitate to take another course or book another trip with NW Mountain school!
Hi Steve, thanks much for the review. We are very stoked to have professional's like Travis on our staff. It is great to hear that your climbing here in Leavenworth met your expectations and prepared you for other objectives. Hope we have the chance to climb with you again!

On August 1, 2019, I spent a full day in Leavenworth with Northwest Mountain School guide Travis Wiel, who had recently joined their staff. I needed to get some practice for an upcoming 6 day climb in Boston Basin, and we did a couple of 5.6 routes. We first did Groundhog Day on the February Buttress. This fairly well mimicked the climbing along the West Ridge of Forbidden Peak. We next went to Castle Rock and did the Midway route. I got gripped on a couple of sections, especially the step-across from the top of Jello Tower. Travis was at all times very calm and encouraging. Whenever I was struggling, hed either talk me through it or even demonstrate how to move. Hes a very good teacher, and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him for a day of climbing instruction. Olivia set me up for this session, and I greatly appreciate it. My experience with NMS was quite positive, and reading up on them, they are widely regarded among the best local alpine services.
Hi Chris! We never replied. Good to hear we were timely on the office side, which is always our goal. We need to improve the timeliness of responding to reviews it appears!

A friend and I did the Haute Route with NMS. The communication from Olivia and John was timely and thorough from the very start. I received all the info. I needed to prepare for the trip. They are guides though so if responses seem delayed, they're in the field but, always responded. Be patient. Our guides on the trip were Pete and Joey. They were amazing and worked very hard to ensure a safe and fun trip. The communication from them was awesome. I personally had the skills & experience for this trip but watching them teach and transform the rest of our team was a joy to watch. I my self had some takeaways that I will use in the back country the rest of my life. Thinking about the Haute Route? Do it with Northwest Mountain School. Thanks Olivia and John! Cheers!
