TLDR: Got cheated when selling used books here. Then got banned from store for writing a bad google review about it. I'm editing my last review (my previous review is below in its original form) that I made in which I gave the bookstore 2 stars. I'm editing my rating down to 1 star and I would give a lower rating if I could. I used to go into this bookstore quite often when I lived in the area. I really liked the store. Well after my 2 star review, they must've recognized that I wrote it. As soon as I entered the store the woman at the cash register started to grill me asking I wrote bad review for the store. She was very aggressive. I was really surprised and taken aback. In the moment I didn't know what to say and she was acting so angry that I said "no." I just couldn't believe that I was being questioned so vehemently about a review I had made just a few hours before. She started saying I better leave and if I wanted to do business with them I had to talk to the owner. I had never been approached by someone from a business for a review I had made. I decided I would stop back when the owner was there and give him a second chance. I brought some books to sell and I told him that maybe we had a mistake understanding during the first time I sold him books and I could tell by the way his employee had acted towards me that they were really upset I gave them a bad review. I said I would change the review if he was just fair with me this time. I thought it was a really reasonable thing to do. He said "Oh you're the Star Wars books guy." His face turned beet red and he said "Get out of my store. Were not doing business with you anymore!" He said I lied during the review. I said "If I lied, how did you know it was me even though I used a psuedonym. The facts had to be there otherwise you wouldn't be able to match them to a specific person." I told him several times I all I wanted was to be treated fairly and i would change the review. He seems so vindictive as well as constitutionally incapable of being fair that he wouldn't do it. I was very polite and never raised my voice. Long story short: I'm no longer allowed in the store because I told the trutth. Original review: I'm reviewing this in light of selling used books to the store. First of all, I called ahead simply to ask about what types of books the store would be interested in. The man on the phone did the typical thing and said he couldn't help me and had to see the books in order to tell me if he can buy them. So I biked across town (about 5 miles) to bring him the books. I had chosen an assortment of really nice books. Many were pictorial compendium type of books. They had to do with popular subjects like Star Wars. He offered about a $1 per book. Later I did the research I should have done before I went in. The book store is supposed to offer about 25% of the labeled price when the book is new. He should've offered about $70 for those books. He gave me $17. I told him I was selling because my wife is terribly sick and I couldn't afford her health care. I actually started crying when I told him about her. He still ripped me off. I will never go back. I have signed copies of rare books and I cannot trust him to see them to.
Local used book store with that musky scent that reminds you of the library. The collection is modest. Some books have water and insect damage, however, that may be the condition they were in before getting put on sale. Some very old books from the prior century can be found here.
