Great gym, but a small hygiene issue. Good selection of classes at all times, members are all very nice and friendly. All the coaches seem very knowledgeable and willing to help students of all levels. My only gripe with the gym is that a lot of people walk off the mats without wearing their shoes. Some even go to the restroom without slippers or shoes (disgusting) and then walk back on the mats. Although they have members that clean the mats before some classes, that doesnt help when people walk off the mats and then walk back on tracking dirt and restroom fluids back onto the mats where we then lay down for bjj or do ab warmups for the Muay Thai classes. I see signs saying no going to the restrooms without shoes but some members dont seem to follow that rule. This is an easy fix for the gym if they are willing to be more strict with hygiene and wearing shoes off the mats.
Sorry to hear you had a bad first experience at Uprise. I talked to some of the students that were here and I was told you arrived after class had ended. So instructors/staff are not always present during open mat and closing time. I think your comments about our gym and its instructors are not based on facts as you did not bother to participate in our free week trial. So I invite you back to see if you still feel the same way. And since you didnt put your name on it youll be treated just as any other potential new member trying out the gym. Our prices are very competitive, as Im sure you know since youve stated youve trained before. Hope to see you on the mats.

Been involved with MMA and Martial arts for over 15 years. This place seems to be the most amateur. Guys in here are poseurs, who feel strong from beating amateurs and novice kids. Very rude and disrespectful staff. Most of all LAZY! When I walked in, interested with a pocket full of cash and my gear in my bag, ready to sign up, every one was just sitting around like a bunch of hobos. Finally one shmoe finally got up an would not tell me any pricing or information. He just gave me a cheap cut out an told me to go online. Lol couldnt even close a sale cause they were too lazy or tired... who the hell gets tired in a gym? Cmon! Well I checked prices oine and hahaha. I am down to over pay, I am down to get ripped off even, but these guys dont have the credibility nor staff, to charge what they are charging. No known teachers and nothing unique. Rando thai guys teaching stand up and then skinny pinoy boys teaching ground game. Unless you are extremely novice, bored, or a biginner with no passion, this place is not for you. Nothing to learn here and nothing to gain. Very unimpressed. I do not use my real name but am known. A truly excellent place. I have nothing but positive things to say about all the people and the instructors. Whenever someone on the West side asks me where they should go, I always point them to Uprise.
This is a fantastic gym, filled with friendly people and a wonderful Coach! I came in for while Thai Pad session while traveling and I was immediately welcomed and felt like family. Ive trained at numerous MMA gyms over the years, and Uprise is one of the hardest workouts I have had in a long time. I cant wait to visit L.A. again to train with Coach Pete.
