I'm giving CHLA four stars for one reason. Wait times. Waiting to see a doctor via an appointment can take months and I mean sometimes a half a year. If your child has a normal problem like a broken arm, cut, regular sickness, do not bring them to the ER here, you can wait up to 8 hours sometimes. This is the downside to CHLA. What's good about them. The doctors and nurses by and large care a great deal. If you have a child who has a rare or difficult to treat problem, no diagnosis for chronic pain, this is where you go. They will do the treatments and tests that doctors and other ERs will not. The doctors all talk to each during visits and before appointments. They all take extensive notes about what is going on and what they have tried and what comes next. If you are not a wealthy person this is a novel experience for parents dealing with a sick child. If you need help and feel like your doctors are giving you the run around, CHLA is the place for you. No hospital is perfect, but CHLA comes close and after many ER visits and two hospital admittances, andvyears of not knowing, we are very thankful to CHLA for the work they have done to help with my daughter's chronic pain. I caution parents two things. Be patient and ask lots of questions (having done your homework, of course). If you need serious help, CHLA will give it to you.

I had an appointment at 1:30pm I was here at 11am driving all the way from Bakersfield which is almost 3 hours away not including time for traffic. However, we were the last patient leaving the hospital at 7pm. This is clearly ridiculous. They offered no compensation for our time that was wasted while waiting. They over book patients at the vision center and give excuses that the doctor is behind. They need to get their stuff together. I have been coming here a long time and they have started to waste our time a lot this has happened to me at 3 or 4 times. They dont consider patients that drive long distances. Im extremely disappointed in their staff.

Took 7 hours to put my daughter in a room to be told there is only one doctor and that it will take more time because there is people ahead of me and they dont know how much longer Worst experience how is there one doctor in the emergency room with so many kids waiting to be seen dont waste your time going here !!!!!
