Great place for kids. Coaches are supportive, knowledgeable, and patient. Coaches emphasize working hard and not cutting corners. They seamlessly go from teaching jiu jitsu as both a sport (what scores points, what gets you a win) and self defense, emphasizing real world applications should you need to escape a situation with a bully or adult stranger. My daughter started in September and loves it, she goes to practice 4 days a week and hates when she has to miss a day. In a short time I've seen the chubby kids shed pounds and the quiet kids come out of their shells. My daughter likes that there are always other girls to workout with and has made a bunch of new friends. On a personal note; I was never a martial arts guy, but quickly realized after a few weeks if you have girls and haven't enrolled them in jiu jitsu you are sending them into the world at a disadvantage. Even a few months of classes would give them a foundation to escape any precarious situation they might find themselves in in high school and college. Check out John's Gym in Georgetown.

My 2 sons have been training at John's Gym for over two years. I brought my oldest son to the gym after being "bullied" at school for the first time just over two years ago. He is now on the gym's competition team, is very capable, and more importantly, his self-confidence has grown by leaps and bounds. You can't put a price on that. We have the coaches to thank for that. The coaches are fantastic mentors for the kids, not only providing excellent Brazilian jiu-jitsu instruction, but also emphasizing discipline, accountability, and diligence in a firm but fair manner. The education they receive on the mats is second to none, coming from seasoned coaches with background experience also including military service, boxing, MMA, and competitive wrestling. I am very grateful for the lessons my kids learn from Coaches JJ and Jason, as these continue to shape and mold them in a positive manner. I am even more grateful for the extended family we have at the gym. I highly recommend John's Gym Georgetown without reservation and invite you to do the same for yourself and/or children.

My son (5) has been taking Jiu Jitsu classes at this gym for several months now and he loves it. I had the pleasure of sitting in on his class yesterday and was so impressed with how Coach JJ connects with all of the kids. He's an excellent coach and knows how to keep the kids engaged. I think it's great that he has young (higher level) helpers working with each group of kids. And the exercises that they all do is quite impressive...I mean duck walks and burpees...wowzer! The gym is spotless and the mats are kept extra sanitary by having the kids clean their feet before stepping on the mat. Coach JJ is highly attentive and puts his heart into teaching Jiu Jitsu. He creates an environment where kids feel like they are part of a team. Their self esteem and self discipline improves with every class. Highly recommend John's Gym Georgetown!

Ive had my kids at Johns Gym for over 2 years now and the experience has been wonderful! The coaches are fantastic and do a great job of instilling confidence in these kids and really get to know them. I also highly recommend the adult classes too!
