You will not find a store more geared towards the professional and hobbyist woodworker than Highland Woodworking online or offline. It has a wide range of products covering every type of woodworking imaginable including, but not limited to, traditional joinery, wood turning, marquetry or carving. If it falls under the category of woodworking, Highland Woodworking caters to it. When you first enter the store, your jaws will drop at the vast variety of neatly presented woodworking products. You'll feel like a child entering a huge candy store. There's a book and periodical section devoted to every conceivable woodworking topic. Quite a few of the tools appear pricey at first, but upon closer inspection, you'll discover they're the highest quality tools available. They carry brands such as Lie Nielsen, Festool, ECE, SawStop and Leigh, smaller manufacturers who refuse to compromise over quality. Alongside them, you'll also find major brands such as Stanley, Bosch and Makita, but most are in the higher end range. Thanks to the resurgence of DIY, Highland now offers budget priced products for the broader market. Regardless, their products are usually competitively priced, matching or often beating other retailers, including Amazon. Few of its competitors can match it's generous 60 day return policy. The knowledgable and friendly staff makes Highland Woodworking a no brainer. Many are also craftspeople who know a lot more than what's written on the sell sheets. I've only had very pleasant interactions with them and encourage you to tryout the tools. It's not uncommon to shoot the breeze with them about woodworking topics. There are also many eclectic and exciting shops, bars and restaurants in the vicinity to keep your disinterested, significant other entertained while you browse. Highland Woodworking has been immune to the retail apocalypse because it highly values the human element. Consequently, they invest a great deal of their resources in establishing a rapport with local, national and even international woodworking communities. They offer a wide array of classes from beginner to advanced at the store and feature tons of instructional content on their site. They also produce a YouTube show which rivals anything you'll find on a major network, while also sponsoring other promising and well established YouTube woodworking channels. Atlanta residents should feel very proud and privileged to house such a renowned establishment. It's one of the few independently owned and operated retailers left in the US of its size and kind. It's location, product selection, knowledgable and friendly staff should give you no reason to shop online. Even if you have no intention of purchasing anything, it's well worth the visit just to see the exciting and interesting tools, or just to chat up the staff and your fellow woodworkers.

We certainly understand this person's frustration. Unfortunately it was indeed a regrettable mistake made by the person who placed the online custom order. It is our understanding now that the person who wrote this review may have asked his wife to order him a custom-made branding iron that could be used to engrave a wooden workpiece with his name (a tool that we do sell). Unfortunately she apparently misunderstood his request, and instead ordered from our website an entirely different custom-made item. What appears on her online order is item 125200, which is a box of 25 wooden medallions to be delivered with the name already engraved (not a branding iron that could be used to engrave a name). These medallions can then be inlaid into a workpiece. We sincerely understand their disappointment, but because it was a custom order manufactured specifically with the name they requested, it was not returnable to the manufacturer for a refund. Certainly if we had made the mistake and customized an item other than the one they actually ordered, we would cheerfully correct the mistake entirely at our expense.

Very bad experience when trying to order a soldering tool (branding iron). I was told it was one thing, and when I received it it was not at all what I was expecting . When I called about the problem I was told it was my mistake and there was nothing they could do about it. I went to amazon and got exactly what I was looking for and at a better price. Thanks Highland no customer service!!!!!
