Sat for 25 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us and no one came over once. Was very odd. All 6 of us got up and left. Alarmingly indifferent. Very disappointing.
So the place looks good however the food and cleanliness not so much. Saw a couple of flies on the bar counter and was able to even capture a picture of it. Ordered an eggplant parmigiana from the pasta menu. It was dry and skimpy on the eggplant. The pasta was in abundance but alas it lacked taste. Lets just say you can eat better at Olive Garden.
I can't say enough good things about Bacco. The food, wine selection, and service are amazing. I first had Bacco last year through a delivery service, and it was good enough for me to make a mental note to try it in person. Having just ate there in person, I can guarantee I will be coming back here again and again. It's been a couple of hours since I ate it, but I can't get over how good the chicken marsala was. I know, chicken marsala, right? A dish that so many Italian restaurants have which manages to be mediocre best ever time you have it. But something is different about it at Bacco. They don't drown the sauce in marsala wine or chicken stock. Instead, the mushrooms really shine through, to the point where I had my mushroom-hating wife try a bite and I could see a change in her: she understood why I liked mushrooms. This was easily one of the best things I've ever eaten.
Excellent. A bit on the pricey side, but it's downtown Harrisburg, and the levels-above-pizza-joint restaurants can be a bit pricey and, some, a little pretentious. My experience in Bacco -- eaten there twice -- has been good, o ce I got past (both times) the hostess telling me the empty restaurant was booked with reservations for the night. After explaining it was 4:30 and I wanted only something light, I was seated. No rush hit the place either time, and I stayed about 90 minutes oth visits.
Had a take-out pepperoni pizza. All I could taste was salt. Salt, like someone storing meat over a long winter in Alaska kind of salt. Like enough salt that I couldnt taste the pepperoni. Like enough salt that Im contemplating on doubling up my blood pressure meds for the next few weeks.
