Honestly, I'm really sad I have to write this review. I met one of the nicest hairdressers here, Sydney. I am going to miss seeing her! But after COVID shutdowns, I called before the salon had reopened to make an appointment for a partial baylayage and a cut before my wedding on June 6th. Space for appointments was already tight, so I had to take a spot during my work hours and ask off for the appointment since it was important to me to have this done before my wedding. Well, four days later I get a call from Alba telling me the company made a mistake in scheduling me, and that there is no availability on the day I was scheduled, and furthermore there is no availability at all until after my wedding. I had already asked off of work, and now I am left scrambling to find another hairdresser that has availability. I don't think it is right at all that Alba continued to schedule appointments for customers who called after I had, and then called me to revoke the appointment they had given me at a point where they had no other dates left to offer me. Alba should have taken care of this issue themselves instead of forcing me to lose four days that I could have spent looking for a different hairdresser. Won't be going back here again, unfortunately.

As a business that has been serving our community for 8 years, we strive for everyone who walks through our doors to have the best experience possible and we are saddened that this was not how your visit turned out. We do our best to create a relaxing atmosphere for all of our guests. We do not tolerate anyone treating our staff with disrespect or taking away from the relaxing experiences of other guests that are a true rarity at this moment in time. We believe there are several reasons why this situation ended in the manner that it did. First, you arrived to your original appointment 45 minutes late, after calling to say you would only be 5 minutes late. Tam agreed to your appointment, even though she was booked the rest of the day and this would most likely set her whole day behind. After a thorough consultation, Tam applied the color to the best of her abilities given the time constraint. During this time, you bragged about making a stylist at another salon cry and loudly insulted a stylist working at the time more than once. When the service was almost complete and your hair was being dried, you started to complain loudly and rudely about the color, asking Tam if she was happy with the work she had done that day. Tam tried to remedy the situation, but after it was quite clear that that wasnt going to happen, another staff member gave you a fresh shampoo, blowdry and style. This directly correlated to how long you were in the salon, as you spent this time trying to get the second stylist to agree with you. Our manager (Sarah) walked you to the front desk on the way out, saying that we had open appointments the next day (Friday) or the following Monday to get you back in for the accent highlight that you agreed would fix the situation. You later declined those appointments and due to limited capacity because of Covid restrictions, you chose to wait until 13 days after your original appointment to come back. The night before your second appointment, because you had complained during your confirmation call, we called you to directly confirm that you would be receiving an accent highlight and you agreed. Upon arrival, you immediately became upset when this was once again conveyed to you and demanded the whole service be done again. After your stylist told you that wasnt possible, you demanded to talk to the owner and continued to argue with her over the phone, making other guests receiving services severely uncomfortable. One guest went as far as commenting that your stylist must have superhero powers to be able to remain calm during your appointment. After another long consultation about what exactly would make you happy, you responded with Youre the professional, shouldn't you know?. Your stylist wasnt able to start your service until 45 minutes into your 75 minute appointment, finishing well after closing time. At the conclusion of this appointment, you told her that you wished she hadnt done anything at all and demanded another appointment. While we always do our best to make every guest happy, after these events took place, we decided that it was best that you find another salon. We refuse to put our staff in situations where they are being spoken down to, mistreated or coerced into speaking badly about another staff member. We believe that the best outcome for all parties was to issue you a complete refund and ask that you not come back to Alba, which we conveyed through a phone call before you wrote this review. We wish you the best in finding a new salon.

SEE PICS!!!!! Colorist (Tam)did not apply highlights to root of the hair after 6 hours in chair during a pandemic!!! COLOR WAS APPLIED APPROXIMATELY 1" AWAY FROM THE ROOT IN VARIOUS PATCHES AT THE CROWN , HAIRLINE AROUND FACE, SIDES AND BACK OF HEAD). My highlights looked like something that would be expected from Great Clips or a student in hair school NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM AN UPSTANDING HYDE PARK SALON. Client for over 5 years ...COLORIST (KATIE) WAS OUT OF TOWN AND INSTEAD TRIED ALBA's RECOMENDED COLORIST (Tam) for a full foil. I had never experienced a problem with Katie as my stylist in the past so I paid for service (with an assurance that they would make it right) and I was asked to return. I arrived at the corrective appointment (1st available 10 days later) to learn they did not book enough time to fully correct (would only do part and hairline around the face; and could not correct the dark patches throughout my scalp that were not colored to the root) I was told I would need to make an appointment for a third trip of corrective color. I expressed my frustration and disappointment to the manager (Sarah) who was to perform the corrective color as I was disappointed with their lack of courtesy for my time and their disregard of their responsibility to correct their error. I spent another 2 hours while she partially corrected my part and hairline on sides of face. I was then called the next day and told I abused the staff and made clients uncomfortable; that they would not correct color...refund money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!! THERE IS NO COMMITMENT OF MAINTAINING A HIGH LEVEL OF SERVICE AND NO LOYALTY TO LONG TERM CUSTOMERS!!!
