Dear Will, anyone that knows me and my business can tell that what you describe, is simply not a reflection of how I do things at my center. To this point, we have not been offered a chance to see what the current issue is with your car, and how we can help, so we are confused by what you mention. Moreover, your comments about "yelling", are not a fair description of any interaction I've had with you. Admittedly, people tend to perceive interactions in their own way, but I assure you, I do not recall yelling, and I would never do that to a valued customer intentionally. We know nothing about referring AutoZone for our diagnosis, as they are a parts' supplier, and while we noticed you had been there for code information previously, our center would never recommend a parts' supplier as a place for diagnostics. Please also be aware that we are very mindful of special needs children, as we also have one in the family, so we would never want to be insensitive. I want you to know that if you wish to find out what the issue is with your vehicle, we will welcome you with open arms (something we haven't had a chance to do since your initial visit). we hope to see you soon. WARNING ! STAY AWAY. This business is NOT BBB accredited and have it listed on their website AS accredited. Phil mocks clients, threatens clients, and did this to my wife and I in front of our autistic teenager. I stepped in after he ridiculed my wife over her truck repairs to request he not behave this way. He went from really nice to borderline psychopath. Phil does not want to hear the client or actually drive cars. He only uses a code reader and repairs by code, not by ASE certified diagnostic testing and assessment. INAPPROPRIATE! They failed to properly diagnose a violently shifting Hyundai Santa FE transmission. Our Santa Fe was slamming into 4th and 3rd gear wile downshifting at highway speeds. Endless visits and calls to resolve the issue were mocked and degraded. We were told to go to "Autozone" instead of come back to them. They said the transmission would "re-learn itself" or would need to be reset, but to wait a week. This went on for 3 weeks! call, wait, excuse; call wait, excuse. call, wait, excuse after excuse after excuse....The problem is worse. They refuse to drive the car. They refuse to actually assess the car that violently shifts 3-4 times a mile, every day, every week, CANNOT MISS THIS PROBLEM!!!! Yelling at my wife is how they CHOSE to handle addressing the transmission problem. They avoid dealing with working the transmission problem. Phil and Cottman feel mocking and getting into accusatory statements are the most professional way to handle their business. If you want your money taken and your problems NOT resolved, you're better off avoiding this place to save the headache and the failure to address the exact issue you bring the car in for. I'm now taking the truck to the dealership and paying AGAIN for the work! What a nightmare. The positive reviews of this business are FALSE!!! I have been verbally degraded by Phil for saying I would be writing a review of our experiences with Cottman. Phil spent more time screaming at me over his arrogant reputation than ACTUALLY focusing on the transmission problem which sounds like a loud bang. The problem IS able to be replicated over and over. It violently shifts 3-4 times every mile even with the cruise control on. I hoped they would be different because a good mechanic is extremely hard to find, but they are NOT. They are just another egotistical business that appears to think they should be paid top dollar for bad work and failed diagnostics. They lie about their BBB accreditation and it's posted on their website. LOOK THEM UP BBB does NOT support this business for their unprofessional behavior. Our truck is still not fixed. Phil actually called me several times from different numbers to scream at me and threaten how he will "do what ever it takes to embarrass" me to my credit card company so he gets his money. He should be fired! Sunny FM radio should not support the verbal harassment and failures of a company like this. Also Phil said Cottman refuses to work on BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi "because they are complicated." I can't put any faith in a mechanic or business that can't service even a VW Jetta, sad. Don't waste your time or money!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! We refuse to return after the way were talked to, treated and verbally abused after the failed and misdiagnosed repairs. Neither of us feel remotely comfortable engaging with them at all. After the threat to come after me and "embarrass" me "to the credit card company" for asking they drive the vehicle was absurd. They spend more time blaming everyone else and worrying about getting into debates that ACTUALLY addressing the car. I didn't appreciate Phil calling me constantly from several different phone numbers after I asked him not to contact us anymore. A BBB complaint, dealership eval will resolve the problem. They plain refused to diagnose the problem in the beginning. Phil also threatened to respond to ANY review posted about his business. Update: We have received legal threats from Phil, phone calls from random phone number with him screaming. DO NOT CONTACT US PSYCHO PHIL!

Brandi, First off, I'm sorry you guys are having such tough times right now. That being said, there are a few statements that I need to clear up. 1st. You brought your car in at night and put an envelope in the night drop. In that envelope you deposited a "code readout" from AutoZone and a hand written note that indicated that these were the only issues that you wanted resolved at this time and that's all you could afford. We also found the TSB from Hyundai and followed it to the T. We felt that this was the best thing to do first. It did in fact fix the car because those speed sensor codes do not reappear, as you admitted. 2nd, As to your comment on yelling: Anyone that knows me or my business, will tell you that we are not yellers. In reality, when you or your husband call us, you are out of control. We simply do not tolerate it. 3rd, Your credit card company did contact us and we sent them everything they requested. (including your self-diagnosis). Comments on making threats and harassment: We know nothing about any threats. Yes I did send you folks a letter. That's because we can't get a word in edge wise. In closing: If you are truly having a car issue, give us a call and we will give you an affiliate to visit in your area. Respectfully, Phil E.

Went to Cottman for transmission work. This place is a joke. I wrote a list of my concerns including hard shifting when car was dropped off. Phil called me the next day and said my he ran the codes and did research on the computer and found I needed a sensor and wires inside my transmission pan. Hyundai had put out a service bulletin on the car. This part was failing. I asked if this would fix the hard shifting in my car. He said yes this was the problem. I went ahead and had the work done, picked up the car 3 days later and paid. On my way home, the car started to hard shift. I called and spoke to Jake. He said to give it a week the transmission needed to learn. I gave it a week with the problem getting worse. When I called again, Phil said for me to bring the car up on a Friday afternoon. I did through awful I4 traffic. When I got there, he would not allow me to drive the car to show him the problem. He plugged in my car and said my "transmission was happy". He didn't listen to the instructions I gave him on how to replicate the issue. Then he passed me off by saying "its Friday and other people want their cars." I tried multiple times. On the way home from S.C., I called only to get laughed at when I said misdiagnosed. Then when my husband called, he got yelled at and was told "we must not have better things to do with our lives then to call" and "there better be something wrong with your car or else I am going to get you". Really? This is the way you treat your customers. I called my credit card company to reverse the charges. The next day, we received a voicemail from Phil stating how "today is a new day and we would like to take care of you". I called to voice my concerns and explain why I did not feel comfortable taking my car back to them. Like "there better be something wrong with your car or else I am going to get you". Don't know who would be comfortable with that comment. Phil hung up the phone on me. Well my husband didn't like that so he calmly called Phil only to be yelled at again. When my husband told Phil he was not being talked to in the manner Phil was talking to him, and he was hanging up the phone. Phil started calling him back from 3 other numbers. Can we say HARRASSMENT! I went to Hyundai the next day and was told I needed a new transmission and my differential was leaking. Also my transmission fluid looked old and dirty. At that point, I told Hyundai what had happened at Cottman and they laughed. They said my transmission pan did not look like it had been dropped and there was no way the fluid in my car was new. Cottman charged me for new fluid in the end of July this was Aug 23. Can we say LIERS!! To top the issue off, I had received 2 letters at my house from Cottman. One was regular mail, the other was certified which I will not sign for. The letter I received in regular mail stated how they wanted to help me, then how the credit card company will always side with him, then how he will seek legal action against me. YOUR CRAZY PHIL!! I immediately called my credit card company to let them know how much he was contacting me. They said he should not be communicating with me at all and if it continues to contact the police. Hyundai told me that if Cottman had actually driven my car, they would have noticed that I needed a new transmission. MISSDIAGNOSED. Phil actually laughed at me when I said he misdiagnosed my car. Stay far away from CRAZY PHIL at COTTMAN who by the way is not BBB certified and has an F rating. It also states on the BBB website that they have asked him to remove the BBB certification and he refuses. Beware of this place. He obviously knows he has done me wrong or he wouldn't have pursued me this way.
