Hi Mr. Fish, our NSHSS Ambassadors are high school student leaders and representatives for the society. They volunteer to help spread the good news to the public about the benefits that they personally have experienced via online through reviews if they choose, through our blog on our website, and even by participating in our social media takeovers via Instagram and Snapchat (@nshss). There, Ambassadors take the audience through "a day in the life of an NSHSS Ambassador," in which they also share their interests, academic accomplishments, and much more. As Ambassadors, these students are very active in the society and have taken advantage of the many benefits we have to offer. Their first-hand knowledge and experience with the society is a very valuable perspective as apposed to those that have either only received a letter and never became a member, or those that have never participated in the benefits and opportunities (thus, they could not truly speak to the value of the benefits presented) . Hi Jason, NSHSS is a legitimate organization, NOT a scam. Invitations are sent to students based on meeting one of the following requirements 3.5 Cumulative GPA (4.0 Scale) or higher (or equivalent such as 88 on a 100-point scale) 1280 SAT score or higher 1150 PSAT score or higher 26 ACT score or higher Score 4 or higher on any AP exam Total combined IB test scores of 36 or higher IGCSE Grade A or higher Top 10% rank in class Or students are recommended by an educator more info here: https://www.nshss.org/membership/. Our members experience real, academic benefits from the society such as scholarships (NSHSS awards more than 2M/year that range from $500-$5,000), free webinars, educational conferences, study abroad and internship opportunities, and more. Our members are students who are academically focused, active in their communities, and are goal-oriented. Unfortunately, there is misinformation circulating about NSHSS and we are doing our best to share real stories and achievements of our outstanding students, member benefits, and relevant information on our website at www.nshss.org and through our social media channels. NSHSS members (Ambassadors) "take over" our Instagram regularly sharing how they are maximizing on their lifetime membership, preparing for college and answering general questions - you can check them out @NSHSS. You can also review the publications and news clips featuring NSHSS @ https://www.nshss.org/. Like other academic or professional societies, NSHSS does charge a fee for membership that helps the society off-set costs of providing member communications and benefits. This one-time $75 fee for membership may also be waived for qualifying students without the financial means through our fee-waiver program. We are very proud to honor and academically engage all students who are striving for and achieving academic excellence, and that is really what colleges really care about seeing from potential students. Honoring and recognizing these students is a core value of the society. However, it seems some people confuse that with the sole benefit of the Society. Therefore, we say: Be Honored. Be More. NSHSS honors students for their academic achievements and opens pathways for high achieving students and their families to more. I have been a member of NSHSS for about a year now, and a recent ambassador as well. Throughout my year of being a member for NSHSS, I can't say enough good things about the wonderful opportunities, experiences, learning moments, amazing group work, and the outstanding people that I've met. Every moment that I've been a part of this organization, I've learned many life changing experiences, many tips and tricks that will be of use in my future, and have met so many supportive and caring staff and friends that always have people's back at NSHSS. Moreover, one of the many wonderful things at NSHSS that I enjoy the most are the useful, outstanding, and well planned webinars. They are always in topics of interest, and worth attending. All and all, I can't say enough good things about NSHSS, and it's an awesome organization to be a part of!
