This tattoo was done one month ago and still hasnt healed. Ive gone to two other artist to get opinions. Since Im in my 60s, the skin gets thinner. This artist went too deep and I wont be able to get it fixed for at least another 4-6 weeks, hopefully. Im seeking another artist. Do not let Zack do any tattoos unless you want cartoon characters.
Good morning Deborah! This is Rob responding to you; I was the individual who was working with you when you came into our studio. Thank you for the review; we appreciate all reviews, especially the negative ones as those are the ones that let us know where we may be lacking in customer service. I am sorry that you feel you had a negative experience with our studio, and myself in particular. It was never my intention to make you feel as though your request was not worth our time. That being said, I do have to defend myself. I appreciate that the circumstances behind your request were especially emotional. Despite that, I have to give my professional opinion regarding any tattoo that comes through our doors in the interest of making certain you are well informed and understand how tattoos age over time. In my professional estimation, what you were asking for was a design that was too small to stand the test of time. It was never a matter of placement. Details and lines done too small will blur together as the tattoo ages. This is important for any tattoo, but especially so for memorial tattoos. We want it to look good not only on the day you get it, but also 10, 15, and 20 years down the road. I was attempting to work with you to reach a good compromise. However, you continually interrupted everything I was attempting to explain with "I know, I know". You also became very emotional (understandable, considering that nobody likes being told that an idea they had their heart set on is not necessarily the best way to approach the tattoo) . It is impossible for me to try and reasonably work with someone who is crying and interrupting me. Although you did not get your work done by us, I sincerely hope that what you got made you happy, and that the studio you got it from treated you well, and that they did not give you something that would collapse quickly as it aged in the interest of merely making money off of you. Felt like what I wanted done was not worth their time or services. I made an appointment on line that included the tattoo and where I wanted the tattoo. Arrived for the appointment only to be told by (no clue his name) "the artist" that what I wanted could not nor would not fit or look right where I wanted it. I specifically made the appointment on January 9 as it was the anniversary of my husband's passing. Fast forward to January 15 and a local Richmond studio. I got the tattoo I wanted and where I wanted it with no issues. They made me feel welcome and there was absolutely no issue with what I wanted done and where. After the experience I had at Ocean Mystique I would not recommend them to anyone.
Thank you very much for your kind words, we do pride ourselves on our hospitality. We have been opened since 2005 and our procedures have never let us down. Staph infections can be picked up from convivence stores, currency, anything that is not sterile and clean. After washing their hands, our piercers will immediately put gloves on for exactly this reason. Every surface they touch in the piercing room is sterile and/or disinfected, the jewelry being disinfected during the set up process to ensure this as well. We do like to remind our clients to wash their hands before touching their piercings for any reason seeing as you can directly transfer bacteria from your fingers to your piercings especially currently with your fingers being so close to your ears while taking off and putting on your mask throughout the day. Had the staph infection come from us it is unlikely that it would have only been in one ear and not both, seeing as both piercings were done with the same disinfected jewelry, tools, and gloves. We do not recommend to "thoroughly" clean your piercings more than once a day, in fact our aftercare instruction sheet and verbal instruction from our piercers is always to keep touching to a minimum and to clean your piercings in the shower with soap and water, making sure all the soap has been washed out with the water. The only other aftercare recommended by us is using a spray on saline mist, one that doesn't require you touching your piercing at all seeing as the more you touch your piercings the higher the risk for infections, rejections, and overworking the fresh wound. The piercers were some of the nicest people I've ever met and the receptionist/front of house was friendly and helpful as well, but I had a horrible experience with my piercings. I had a jewelry change to my second lobe piercings and got a third lobe piercing on each ear. They both felt fine at first but after a day or two I knew something was wrong. I continued to clean them thoroughly and make sure I was not sleeping on them either. My left ear was eventually in so much pain that I could not bear it, so after waiting for a week or so to see if the problem resolved itself, I went to a doctor. The doctor informed me that I had a staph infection on my ear. My piercings are doing fine now after being on antibiotics, but the fact that I got a staph infection from this shop is horrifying to me.
