Jason - Thank you for the feedback. Please be advised that the Google "specialists" that call you are not Google employees, but subcontractors that have little to no experience running Google Ads campaigns and are simply following a script. We have found that the scripts they follow are often designed to make Google more money, not you. If that subcontractor implied that we did not set up something that their script recommended, that omission was intentional on our part. If I had to guess, one of their set up recommendations was to turn on Auto Apply Recommendations, which is part of their go-to script. You can find plenty of articles written by respected Google Ads professionals that advise against blindly following Google's recommendations. To the Google User reading this - This client was only with us for 2 months in May and June of 2023. Yes, from time to time, we need to let these Performance Max models collect data without and changes to the campaign. Why? They are AI models that will re-enter Learning Mode when changes are made to the account. This client was making frequent changes to his account which kept the campaign in Learning Mode, so we asked him to stop making changes to the campaign so the models could learn. Consistency is important for any machine learning algorithm and is necessary for positive long-term results. By contrast, Learning Mode intentionally introduces data beyond the targeting, which causes the performance of the campaign to suffer for a week or so after any significant change is made to the campaign. Without good data in the campaign, we cannot make intelligent changes to the account to improve the results. Third Marble is not a "set it and forget it" Google Ads Management Service. For example, in the last 30 days of this service, we completed optimizations on this campaign on 5/16/23 at 9:36 AM, 5/22 at 1:04 PM, 6/5 at 11:48 AM and 6/13 at 2:15 PM. Setting up a Google Ads campaign and not optimizing it regularly is not advised. So you know what to expect, the initial months of starting a new Google Ads campaign are often an investment in future results. Google Ads Shopping campaigns rarely work well in the first few months. Many of our e-commerce clients start with several months of unprofitable results as the Performance Max models learn. Then, as results get closer to breakeven, we begin to increase budgets. This allows the models to learn faster. After a few more months, we typically see positive profits that continue to grow each month as the models are able to process more data. Most of our e-commerce clients that have been with us for more than a year are enjoying profitable returns. This company may be good for a business with no Google ads in place. We had some in place but were looking for optimization. They set up a few Performance Max campaigns. I was initially impressed with the communication. After a month the campaigns had slightly better ROAS than our automated Shopify campaigns but conversions were slim and we were very upside down when considering fees. I attempted to have a conversation about ways to improve but the feedback was this was probably where to leave things for a while. Our products do convert well on other channels, so it did not make sense to proceed. Then we got a call from a Google specialist and found that the Performance Max campaigns were not fully set up the whole time. I thought it was going to be a more hands on experience devoted to growing conversion rates, but in my experience they help you setup some campaigns and then that's mostly it. I understand they can't work miracles but the price for what we got didn't make sense. It would be better suited as a one-time fee and pay for additional interaction vs. a monthly fee + % of ad spend.
Mikayla, I am very disappointed to get this review. I apologize if I sounded dismissive on the phone, that was never my intent. I understand that you have been told by others that have been running Google Ads for years about their results, and I felt as if they gave you a false sense of how quickly these ads begin to work - especially for a brand new website that needed some improvements. I also felt we were making good progress in reducing the cost per lead, and according to you and Zach on our last call, we had achieved better than breakeven results within 4 months. For a power-washing company trying to advertise in the middle of the winter, that's not bad in my opinion. As for my personality and leadership style, I can only say that I was genuinely trying to help you grow your business, so I'm very surprised by these comments. If my attempts at trying to be helpful and educational were misconstrued as arrogance, I can only apologize. For those reading this review, Upon learning of their disappointment in their results, I offered to make things right by not charging them for our services for the next month, personally manage their campaign, schedule a weekly call to review progress on their Google Ads account and help them edit their website to improve their conversion rates. They declined this offer and opted to leave this review instead. It is not our intent to be complacent or provide inadequate results. We obviously failed to meet their expectations. We hired third marble in January of 2021 to manage our google ads campaign for our pressure washing business. Since then, we have had frustrating interactions with our ad manager (Tim) as he was not able to give an explanation as to why we were having such poor performance out of our campaigns, which led us to have very little confidence in their abilities. Every monthly report that we received looked great on paper, but was not performing. So, we reached out for a second opinion to someone in our industry who is a google ad campaign manager at another agency and he was able to shed light on the issues and gave explanations for those issues and explained exactly how to remedy them. Our manager at third marble had us speak with the president of the company, Chris because the issues we were experiencing were “over his head”. Chris, the president of third marble, came off quickly in our one hour conversation as dismissive, arrogant, and very condescending which is the polar opposite of how we treat our customers. We feel so badly for those that have to work under his leadership and have to deal with those traits. This company has displayed only incompetency and a constant feeling of complacency with their performance. 10/10 We would recommend literally anyone else.
