Hi Tyler, thank you so much for your feedback. We welcome and value input from our buyers and the agents that assist them through the new construction process. We realize interest rates rising the last couple of months made it more difficult for buyers to plan ahead. We understand the buyer you represented locked her interest rate before our projected close date and was charged interest rate extensions by her lender as a result. We are sorry to hear she didnt have a better experience and we love seeing how happy your buyer is now that she is moved into her home.

To preface this review: Zane our superintendent was fantastic to work with. Megan our Sego sales agent was also great to work with overall and provides great communication/professionalism. I also appreciated how Sego did not do any escalation clauses or multiple offers upon my client writing her initial offer while other builders were. As an agent who has worked with multiple buyers on new construction home purchases with a multitude of home builders, I have created the motto "It's not necessarily about the issues that come up, but how they are handled that truly matters" and unfortunately Sego Homes did not deliver when it truly mattered. They are great when it is easy to be great, but that should be industry standard. To continue being great and delivering great customer service when the going gets tough is where 5 star reviews are earned. To summarize the experience one of my clients had that was frustrating and that any potential buyer should be aware of: -The preferred lenders they recommend are expensive. Definitely shop around with your own lenders as Sego's preferred lender was $300/month more expensive despite having a lower interest rate than my recommended preferred lender. Most buyers don't question builder's recommended lenders and think they're getting a good deal with a builder incentive. -There were some very extreme circumstances that came up which led to Sego's delays in which they had no control over and I have compassion for that. However, they took no action to help ease the pain that those delays gave to the buyer. The builder himself abandoned the customer service ship when the waves got big. -Their sales manager called me to try and resolve an issue and upon me requesting a measly $800 credit for my buyer to help with extra costs that came up due to Sego's delays on our closing date, she admitted their recommended lenders are more expensive intentionally so that they have a buffer to help buyers when issues do arise....mind you situations like that are very rare which means most buyers who don't have issues are simply being charged more intentionally when using their preferred lenders. She said if we had used their preferred lender they could have helped us with our request, but since we didn't go with their more expensive lender there is nothing they could do. Sego failed to realize the emotional rollercoaster their customer was going through with this unfortunate process, and all she needed was a simple "We understand how frustrating this is, and here is what we are offering to help" rather than what they said which was "We understand how frustrating this is, but you're on your own". I wish this turned out differently because their floorplans and quality are some of the best in the game.
It is standard practice for a homebuilder to require Earnest Money from a homebuyer to act as security and as a promise that the buyer will honor the contract and purchase the home. In exchange, the homebuilder takes the home off the market and turns away other buyers. We did just that three times for you and took the homes off the market and, in fact, turned away many interested buyers on all three homes you put under contract. When you cancelled the first and second time, we returned your Earnest Money in full each time. The third contract, you ensured us you were actually going honor the contract but, just three days before the Closing on the third home, you again cancelled your contract. By that time, our sales and construction team had spent a considerable amount of time working with you and we had already completed the home and we had completed the New Home Presentation/walk-through with you and we had worked with your Lender to complete paperwork, and we had made all the preparations with the title company for the closing of your home and for you to get the keys to your new home. When you cancelled the third time, our Sales team informed you that the deadline for refunding Earnest Money had long since passed and that we would not refund your money yet again, a third time. As a concession to you, you were informed that if you were to purchase a home from Sego Homes in the near future, we would apply still the earnest money a fourth time towards the purchase of new home from Sego Homes. With regards to the pergola you requested, the third home was nearly complete when you placed it under contract. Later, at your request, our team researched the possibility of adding the pergola after-the-fact and determined it would not meet our standards of quality and safety. We strive to have happy homeowners and to provide a top-quality buying experience.

Earlier this year we were buying a house from Sego. Leslie K was awesome. Things changed and we backed out, got our earnest money back and we were satisfied. Things finally fell into place and we were buying again from Sego. Again Leslie K was there ready to help. Put a contract on a house and things were happening. We went over to the house one day saw the kitchen. Things didnt look right and we told them. Their answer was, we can fix that later. We asked to have a pergola put on the roof top since the one we loved did not have the pergola. We were told that they can put that on for us. Within 48 hours we were informed that they cant because of structural issues. They offered us an umbrella to offset the pergola. I guess it was something. We were continuing to move forward and then we were hit with bad news. My mother-in-law got the corona-virus and was in the hospital for over a month. We were unsure of the days and weeks to come, in case we had to fly to her location. So we canceled the contract so we could leave and be with her. Since we missed our time frame, we still asked for our earnest money back. Sego just said NO. We understood that people were working on the contract/house and did not even ask for the full amount. I asked again explaining the situation and they still said too bad, because we were too close to closing and then it took two months to close afterward, they will not release any earnest money. Sego did get the house back under contract within a short period of time. Just very disappointing that a company of size could not find it in their heart to help a family in a time of need so we could buy a plane ticket to see our family in the hospital, especially in a time like this.
Thank you for your review, Lisa! We try to be very conscious of the neighbors near homes we build. Keeping our sites clean is a priority, and we're sorry trash was an issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and letting us correct it.

I am a resident in day break, Sego was building some 3 plex's right next to me and I was having trouble with the Sub's driving over my plants and well destroying that side of my property, not to mention all the trash. I contacted Jiame and he was over excellent at fixing the issue with the trash and went as far as to repair the damage, with all the trouble I have had with my own builder, I was extremely impressed with how he handled it. Again thanks so much!!!!
Thank you for your review, Josh! We are fortunate to have a fantastic team of people who truly care about building quality homes. Glad to hear you've had a great experience.

I would highly recommend Sego Homes to build your next home. Parker Munson and his team are top notch. If I could give 10 stars to this 5 star rating scale, I would.
Thank you for letting us know, Ricky. We take pride in the homes we build and have a firm policy of keeping work areas clean. We discussed your comment in our team meeting this morning to reaffirm the importance of our cleaning policy. Please email [email protected] with your contact information so we can get more information about what area youre referring to specifically.

The construction around our home and in our deck area is just filled with trash (fast food wrappers, drinks, nails, etc) they have no regard for picking it up. Its really frustrating when you buy a brand new home and there is trash everywhere.
