Customer called yesterday asking for the cost of replacing battery for MacBook pro 2016 15 with touch bar, she said she sure battery needs to be changed because she already tried all the online troubleshooting but still the battery says service is required Although it did not exceed 400 cycles. We quote the price for her instantly and told her at the same time it is better to run some diagnostic before replacing the battery because It is not normal the battery required to be changed after 388 cycles only! She agreed and she drop it off yesterday for diagnostic, as courtesy we start working on it immediately to save her time because she said need her computer back asap although we have high volume of repair requests. We found a lot of dust inside (we cleaned) and spend more than 5 hours doing testing and battery calibration with our Catalina OS X and the battery runs fine without any error message. We called her today and tried to be honest with her and told her the results of the diagnostic and what is our recommendations .... I told her clearly that many other MAC users complained about the same battery issue when they upgrade to New OS X Big Sur because Apple changed their standard and it is showing this message now even if there is a minor issue with it. We told her you can either replacing the battery which it not necessary as we believe because the message does not show up when we tested with Catalina or just ignored and keep using it till the battery really needs to be change. She said I want to sell this computer and cannot sell it with message showing up, so she asked to downgrade it from Big Sur to Catalina OS X with backup all her personal files So, we did all of that and after we finished and the Computer back working fine on Catalina with no error messages for the battery, we text her back and told her the computer is ready for pickup and the total cost is $140 for the diagnostic and services, ($20 clean dust inside, $40 backup her files, $80 downgrade and install Catalina OS X) She called back and instead of thanks us for saving her money and rapid service, she starts complaining and said that we did not inform her about the cost of reload OS X and backup her files before!! Although she already agreed and signed to paid almost double than the service cost just to replace the battery furthermore the price of the service has been done is illustrated and written clearly on the form that she signed before and is listed on our website as well and she never asked any question for the cost or pricing when she request to back up her files and downgrade the OS X! She assumed by somehow, that all services and diagnostic that has been done will be at the same basic $30 diagnostic fee with no additional charge!! I told her more than once that these prices are the minimum and already listed on the form and our website, and I do not have to inform you the details of the basic charges if you did not ask, we even waived the diagnostic fees for you!! And some others the charge almost the same amount that we charge you for the service just to look at it!! but she kept complaining and said you charge $80 to install OSX and I can install by myself!! So, to avoid any further arguing with her, I told her if you can do it by yourself, we will be more than happy to remove our service and format work that has been done and charge you just the diagnostic fees, and she insist to do so and confirmed twice! Summary is this sincere advice those days deserve to be thanked or objected to complaining and give a hard time just looking for free service?! If we were like others and we were only concerned with money, we would have advised her instantly to replace the battery without any diagnostic save our time and earn more money, but some customers unfortunately do not appreciate the sincere advice these days. With all respect, kind of this customer are not welcome to our office.

First off, let me first start off by saying it pains me to write a negative review. I hate to be this person, BUT I am doing this in hopes of saving someone else from making the same mistake as I did. I feel sick to my stomach that I ever brought my equipment to this location. Second, if you are in Gwinnett take your computer to Computer Sleuths or directly to Apple if you can afford their services. I have taken my Apple items directly to Computer Sleuths and have had nothing but great things to say about them. In this instance, however, they were busy for the next 2 weeks and I needed my issue resolved ASAP. I decided to try a new location, Lucent Computer. Now, onto my experience. I started noticing battery life issues with my macbook pro. I brought it in and asked them for a diagnostic and maybe a battery replacement if my battery needed replacement. Their diagnostic fee is $20 and their battery replacement fee is $250. Those were the only two items we discussed. Fast forward to the following day (today) I get a phone call from them that the battery is not the issue and that it is the OS system, Big Sur causing the battery issue. At this point I am relieved that my battery does not need replacement and I think I only need to be $20. They bill me for $140. This fee includes- diagnostic, dust cleaning, reformatting and storing my information on a backup device. All of which I did not know was a charge. Any time in the past when I have worked with Apple or Computer Sleuths they call me and update me, tell me the charges moving forward, and get my approval. I had no clue that those items were additional fees with Lucent. So I call the owner and tell him I am not happy that he did not tell me these were all charges. I would have happily opted out and picked up my laptop. He became rude, raised his voice, and kept saying "the fees are on our website." I understand sir, but as with any service industry goes, over communication is the best. You always want to protect yourself and thoroughly explain to the client. Anyhow, I tell him I am driving to pick up my laptop. He removes the additional fees and I only pay the diagnostic. I arrive home and my computer is completely wipe. I've been on the phone with Apple for hours and it appears that Lucent completely erased my hard drive. I can't open my computer, reinstall software, or anything. I am left with a very expensive piece of metal. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
Originally i rated these guys pretty high. that was before i figured out what actually happened with my rig. so i put a 5000 series ryzen 5 CPU in a brand new B550 mobo. it obviously wouldnt post, as b550 needs to have the bios updated before it will run a 5000 series cpu. not knowing this i brought it in for repair. first he said "bios seems to be corrupted, should be $70" then he said "looks like your PSU is bad, i will replace it." bringing the total up to $240. now, i know for a fact the PSU was fine, but i figured i could have borked it during my upgrade (looking back, i didn't it was fine.) he also removed 2 fully functional fans from my rig, claiming they were broken and not functioning properly. this was fine, as i keep extra fans, but when i threw them on my test bench, they are both functioning properly. this man cleaned and routed my cables, and charged me for it, despite not asking for that. so i lost $240 and and got a PSU with lower power than my original build, and lost two fans. i can only imagine he was trying to create a repeat customer by overheating my system. luckily i swapped everything over to a new case and added 6 noctua fans and now my system is running better than ever. should be able to do any future repairs myself. the main thing is the dishonesty. he could have told me that all b550 boards have to have a bios update to run AM4 chips, but instead, he just made me look like a dumb dumb and got my money for it too. leasons were learned.
Was biting my nails worried that my computers might be unfixable, but Lucent immediately alleviated those concerns during our first conversation. They were so knowledgeable and reasonably priced (and fast!) in fixing my two laptops, I'll definitely return to them for all my future computer needs!
Sometimes, whatever you do, you can't understand or how to deal with some people call themselves a customer! With all my respect she did not say the truth as you can see on the attached video... She forgets that everything is recorded those days. she did not say Im only asking. Then she came with her laptop, and after I opened the sealed case in front of her trying to test with her laptop, she asked is it original? I told her clearly no it's not, its aftermarket. if you want original, we do have it, but the price is $65 The price difference is $30 not $40 as she mentioned Her response was thats totally different things than the phone, as she alludes that I lied or misleading her! Even though, she asked to test out, and after she tested with her laptop and find all is good, she asked again is it new, have been used before?! My response not as she described, I smiled and kindly told her I just opened in front of you! Immediately she called me rude and having attitude and threatening me that she will leave a bad review!! making face, strangely glanced between them, Irrational questions, laughing with no reason, used impolite words and then calls you rude!!

I give this business 0 stars. I series of events happened in a single transaction. First, I called asking for a specific product to which Owner confirmed he has in stock and provided me with the price. When I got there, everything changed...the product was an aftermarket product and the price that he promised over the phone increased $40 more. When asked if the product was new or used, Owner rolled his eyes and with an attitude said, Did you not just see me open the package? I responded, Im only asking. Are you having a bad day? Owner then took product out of my hand and walked away. This is no way to do business. The 96 good reviews that are posted must be bogus reviews. This Owner was rude without feeling bad about how he treats others. All in all, I pray he changes bc one day he will meet his match. It will be the wrong person, on the wrong day.
