Zoo Knoxville is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, an honor earned by only 10% of zoos. We are one of the premiere zoological experiences in the southeast. Committed to sharing wildly fun experiences that educate and inspire, we feature acres of creative habitats for animal lovers of all ages to explore. We do have over 800 animals on exhibit every day. Our animal care team puts a great deal of consideration, time, and effort into ensuring that our animals habitats are engaging and enriching, using varied terrain as well as strategically placed rockwork, trees, shrubs, and grasses. This can occasionally make a few of our animals more difficult to spot, but we believe that their mental and physical wellbeing makes it worth the effort. Please keep in mind that our prices are set where they are because we are a non-profit conservation organization. Beyond needing funds to nurture and maintain our animals and facilities, we support conservation efforts both inside our zoo as well as out in the world. This is the worst zoo I've ever visited. There were very few animals out to see. We drove 3 hours to get there and paid over $100 and we seen maybe 3 animals..most were not out or had medical issues the signs read. Very disappointing and will never ever visit this pitiful zoo again!

Probably the worst American zoo I've ever visited. It says they open at 9am so we went early to try and avoid crowds and the heat but nothing is open at that time. You can go inside but few animals were on display. No elephants, no tigers, not even the petting zoo. None of the vendors were open and several pathways were closed. I tried addressing it to a staff member but they are all volunteers and mostly teenagers. I've seen worse zoos but those were all overseas where the animals were clearly abused. The few animals we did see looked healthy so at there's that. Over I definitely would not recommend. If you can, drive a little further to Atlanta, they have an amazing zoo.

In addition, for the comfort and safety of our outdoor exhibit animals, during hot weather or when storms are in the area we offer some of them access to their indoor areas to cool off and/or get out of the rain.
