Sorry, your first interaction with the manager was horrible, we promise he's a good dude. We will ALWAYS ask to look at the gear being donated for two reasons, is it something we can take and use, and get a rough idea of valuation for a donation receipt that you declined. You are more than welcome to stop back by to pick up your donated gear.

I wanted to donate my scuba gear to Learn Scuba. They tout they help teach veterans and under privileged to dive. I also liked that they were a nonprofit. I took my gear, scuba pro bc, atomic regulator, dive computer, pony bottles with reg and assorted fins and mask. What a terrible experience. When I walked in this guy was hunched over a computer never looked up! I told I was there to donate my gear. He said pull it out of the bag let see ! I did and wish I had never had given them my gear! Attitude adjustment! Believe me I would never dive with this company
Hi Eileen, We are sorry to see you had such a poor experience with us back in 2017. We strive to try and make our students experience as enjoyable as possible. Looking back at past e-mail communications with you, we advised you that "Our return policy is that you can recieve a full refunnd of your certification within 30 days of purchase as long as you haven't completed and pool sessions, which you havent. You would need to come into the store so that you can return your book." You acknowledged this, and missed a couple of opportunities to return the book. Your last response to us on Sat, Jul 22, 2017, 5:06 PM was, "I will postpone it to next year. I will cancel all the schedule for now." and we have never heard back from you since then. We do make every effort to make sure you finish the course. However, it is ultimately up to you the student to be sure to complete the academics, confined pool training, and open water dives within one year of the date of purchase. We had you sign a slip of paper acknowledging you understood this. We hope your experience hasn't shied you away from diving. ~Jason

I would avoid this place if possible. I did not take a single course and needed refund. they used all means to delay the process to not give the money back... It was 500 dollars, and that was a lot of money for me. Wanted to add little bit more since LSC commended on this review that seemed to display the situation little unfairly. In order to get refund from this place, you have to return a book given after payment. Regardless of actually taking a course or not, you wont get 500 dollars if the book alone is not returned. In all the emails exchanged clearly show how I tried to return the book in several ways possible-by mail or friend or by going to the instructor at school because I wasnt able to visit the office at the hour myself due to my work circumstance and hour. Phone and emails were not answered at the time I tried to return before 30th, and after that they said no refund b/c the book wasnt returned. The only option they said was to postpone but obviously I was no longer in Chicago after the time. This is my experience as a customer and putting it out there for others.

An amazing experience! The team is incredibly welcoming and guide you through the skills and process to ensure that you successfully complete your certification. Would recommend them to anyone and everyone looking to get their scuba certification!
I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in getting certified. Their primary focus was on safety, and enjoying diving. Other shops I looked into were more motivated by profits. They always stressed safety, and ensured that you were ready to move on. They were incredibly patient, and very professional.
Hi Vputi, Sorry to hear you had a "cocky divemaster candidate" leading your group. We would be happy to speak to the individual if we knew what pool day you attended or you knew the individuals name. We do strive to make the class exciting and ensure students get through their experience safely. All of our DMCs and Instructors are volunteers and our organization is always on the lookout for more helping hands and fins in the water. You are more than welcome to apply to our DMC program if you are Open Water certified and 18 years of age or older.
