This is the only Aveda salon I would use in Columbus, the rest of the locations suck and you don't get your free facial so that's something to keep in mind. However, I guess I can't go here anymore because I don't have anyone to watch my son during the service. That sucks. :/
Most expensive haircut I've ever paid for and yet I was all around disappointing with my final product. I have super curly hair and made an appointment with someone who "has experience" with curls. Because of time she did my color and another stylist did my cut. I asked for lighter roots and an eventual flow of blonde pieces toward the end. She dyed my roots and my hair is already naturally dark but it came out almost black. I'm not sure how the miscommunication from lighter roots to black dye happened but it happened. My hair got washed and went to the next stylist to get it cut. As I noticed my hair drying I could tell how dark my roots and overall color was....I asked the stylist, "did she put any blonde or lightener in my hair?" The stylist assured me it would come out better once it dried. Well, she cut my hair, barely put any product in my hair (super curly hair....needs a lot of product) and diffused the top of my head for about 5 minutes. That was it.....she took my cape off and showed me where to pay and the top half of my head was frizz city with damp curls hanging down the other half. I paid $240 before tip for my cut and color and I walked out of the salon with damp hair. I was kind of in shock, because I don't understand how the stylist thought that it was acceptable to charge me $50 for a haircut when she barely did anything...including drying and styling it. I did end up calling the salon and the manager offered me to come back and have the color re-done. I went back to see if they could salvage my roots but all they could really do at that point was to put in some bleach strands.....which was not at all the look I was initially going for but it was better than what I currently had. Anyways, beside my girl Benevolyn who does eyebrows like a champ, I give the rest of the salon a 2. Seriously disappointed since I can get a much better cut and color with people who listen to what your asking for at a way better price. Now I have to start a lightening process all over again.
I have a rare eye disease that makes my one rye bulge forward and lid retract upwards, leaving my eyeball exposed when my eyes are closed (TED- if you know, you know). Needless to say chemicals near my eye left me beyond terrified. I came in to see Angela for a lash lift and tint on the back of having my hair burned off chemically; I hadn't felt beautiful in months. After being in Angela's expert hands and soothing presence, I left more confident than I have felt in months- and ultimately, spent less money spent on makeup as a result of her excellent work. If you had told me I would have felt beautiful going out without make-up after how ugly I've felt all year, I would have laughed. But this lash lift and tint ultimately lasted me months, and though I am not local to Columbus, I will certainly be flying from LA every time I want a lash lift and tint done by someone who understands not all faces are the same, and worked extra hard to accommodate the specialized needs required for my specific eyes (which are very very specific). I booked an appointment with Aveda at upper Arlington today morning. I wanted a 90 minute facial and I was put down for 2:30pm, and got a confirmation text for that. On top of this I asked if I could get a hair consultation all with my appointment and was told that I can stop by 15 mins earlier and have it done at 2:15. I arrive the place at 2pm just so that I am not late for my consultation and the front desk folks tell me there is no 90 min appointment booked for me!!!! The only thing they had was a consultation at 2:30 instead!!!! Ghaaaaaaa! On top of this the staff wasn't even ready to accommodate. They said that the earliest I could get in would be 3:45 and that too for a 60 min facial (NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR). They didn't seem very apologetic about it either. I walked out furious and am now sitting in my car right outside Aveda, typing this review. Horrible customer service and mechanism of dealing with your own goof up! To top it all, I took time off my work to make it for my appointment. Not a happy customer!!!!
