I brought my two dogs here for the weekend. After getting home one of my dogs would whimper and would not wag his tail so I took him to the vet. After x-rays and check ups come to find out my dogs rear was injured with pieces of bone fragments in his x-ray. And my other dog came home with diarrhea with blood in her stool and vomiting everywhere. I notified the kennel immediately about what was going on and asked what they did to my dogs. The owner called me back concerned as well and offered me so meds for my one dogs that was vomiting and he seemed concerned about my other dog. After I received my vet bill, of almost $400, I dropped off a copy to them. I have not heard from them since. So I must say I thought this was a great place but after my pets came home sick and not in the condition we dropped them off in we will never use this place again. I am very disappointed because this place looked really nice.
I had used Home Away from Home many years ago for one of my dogs who has passed away since then. Back then I had a good experience until now. This past weekend I took two of my dogs for memorial weekend, Friday afternoon till Monday. The staff communicated different explanations in terms of how long staff member would be working during their holiday hours. One person before the drop off said there would be someone from opening till 7pm. But when I called and asked again they said staff would only be there during there specified holiday hours each day of memorial weekend. They offer a teacher discount, on Friday they said it would be honored even took my husband's ID. But on Monday they said they were not honoring because of memorial weekend. Ok....... For $200 for four days, and the staff not being there for their full working days how is it fair to charge me full day rates? In addition for full disclosure, when they are closed no one is there overnight. The owner watches the site through a surveillance camera. I don't know if that's how it was when I dropped my dog off then years ago or if I failed to educate myself as I did this stay.
We are all so very sorry to hear of Jack's passing, but it eases things a little to know you were able to be with him in his final moments. Jack and the girls have have been boarding with us for so long, we are happy to have been a part of his story and look forward to seeing the girls more to become part of theirs as well. It's why we all love what we do. Our hearts break along with yours everytime we have to say goodbye to a friend. Big hugs from the entire HAFH staff

I would give six stars if I could! I have boarded my dogs with HAFH for several years now. Before the pandemic, I traveled quite often and this truly was my dogs home away from home. They always went in wagging their tails and excitedly greeted the staff, and they always came home with their baths and their nails trimmed as happy as when they went in. My Great Dane even became a celebrity of sorts there with her playful silliness. The team always sent pictures of my girl and her antics. That my dogs were always excited to go, and equally happy when they left assured me that they received the best of care. Recently though, I had an experience that really brings home the depth of care that HAFH provides. I was out of town for a funeral, and unfortunately my elderly Doberman took a turn for the worse. Michelle immediately notified me the next morning of his condition. She kept me updated every 30 minutes on his condition. The team went so far beyond my expectations in keeping him clean as he couldnt walk. They even went across town to my veterinarians office to pick up medication that might help his condition until I could get home. Interestingly, despite the emergency, the vets office wouldnt even let me speak to the doctor despite the emergency and instead required an appointment. Unfortunately, my Jack didnt make it but at nearly 14 he had one great life for a Doberman. He passed peacefully at home with me and Im grateful for the time we had together. Im also grateful beyond what words can express to Michelle and the team at HAFH for the love and compassion they showed both Jack and me through all of this, the care that they provided him in his final days, the things they did for me and Jack that I would have never expected any kennel to do, and that one of Jacks final memories was the great time he always had at HAFH. God Bless all of you for everything that you did through this and for showing a true love, passion and commitment to the animals that mean so much in our lives. My dogs and I are so truly fortunate to have such loving, caring people in our lives. I cant imagine entrusting my dogs to anyone but you after this experience. My deepest, heartfelt thanks and appreciation for everything.
Other than their high prices, this place is great. They treat our animals with utmost care. We never think twice about how well they are being taken care of when we are away. Plus, when we have our dog bathed there, he smells fresh for about three times as long as other places that we've taken him to for baths. Just wish their prices were lower, because between our two kitties and our dog, we've paid over $470 for six days of boarding. That's just more than we can afford to pay on a regular basis when we go out of town and will be looking for alternatives.
