Well I was encouraged when things went fairly smoothly with the sales guy when I bought my new Patriot but once I got shuffled over to the finance department, things went bad in a hurry. Sat around for almost an hour even though I had filled out paperwork online before going to the dealership. I was the only customer in the building so it was not like they had been overwhelmed with business. Intense pressure to buy a very expensive extended warranty and a dealer service contract. Finally the finance guy told me if I purchased the over 2K extended warranty the dealership would buy down the interest rate on the loan. The interest savings would exceed the cost of the warranty. I was also told that anytime within 30 days I could cancel the warranty and get a refund. That was a new one on me so I agreed, signed the papers, and took my new Jeep home. I had told both the sales guy and the finance guy that I would be towing a small kayak trailer that weighed about 350 lbs. with the Jeep. I know they heard me because we talked about fishing out of the kayak. Well when I get home, I read the extended warranty and it states if the vehicle is used for any towing ever the warranty is void unless the vehicle had been purchased from the dealer with the towing options installed. The extended warranty also is void if any size/type tired other then Jeep approved are installed. This is unacceptable so I call to cancel. I get faxed a form, fill it out and fax it back. A month later I'm still waiting for my refund so I call and am told well we only process that paperwork at the end of the month. Anyway...it took two months to get the policy canceled. The issuing company sent the money back to San Marcos Auto Outlet within 3 DAYS after they got the paperwork. It took the finance dept almost 2 months to submit the cancellation request and I believe the only reason they finally did it was because I called and talked to the general manager. Then I didn't get a "refund" anyway, they just sent the funds directly to the bank to apply to the loan. Well that's NOT what the guy said would happen. Oh yeah...when I called the credit union who actually financed the Jeep, they told me that this buy down thing didn't exist so the finance guy lied about that also. When I got the JD Powers customer satisfaction survey, I gave the dealer a "1" because I had been lied to at least twice and they kept my money for almost 60 days just because they could. Well then I got plenty of calls from them saying the owner wanted to know why I was so unhappy...including a call from the finance guy who suddenly couldn't remember any of a dozen or so phone conversations about my refund.we had had. I live in Kyle and I will drive past that place on my way to San Antonio when I want another Jeep. So if you want to be lied to, sold a worthless extended warranty, wait 2 months for a refund that's not really a refund, and deal with a company the BBB has 17 complaints on file about in the last 3 years, than San Marcos Auto Outlet is for you.
This is the worst dealership to contact. The managers are almost impossible to get a hold of, never return your calls and the sales reps are pretty under qualified sounding for the job when you talk with them. I left messages with the GM twice and he passed my info to someone that has yet called back after calling her a few times leaving voicemails. Interesting....I thought the whole sales dept was to make sales...? I went here last year and one of the sales rep on the nissan side had me drive all the way out there for nothing. I was expecting to see a used SUV they had for sale but he failed to let me know over the phone that it was sold! I drove all the way from Austin for nothing. Then I called and left a message for one of the sales managers to call me back and never recieved a call. I gave them one more chance this year to maybe they changed out the staff or the way they do "business", but not at all, still the same!! I highly do NOT reccomend them, plus they have a very small selection of cars at the nissan store. The dodge store has a little more but mainly domestic cars not so much foreign. If you are looking for something with a good selection go to San Marcos Toyota, Good customer service and BIG selection or san marcos honda!
Last week we were shopping for a new car for my 20 year old daughter, which we were dreading since *her* idea of an affordable car did not match ours. Or reality's. San Marcos Nissan was our second dealership stop that day. It should have been our first. We met with Richard almost immediately and were put at ease with his friendly and confident manner. He has a no-nonsense approach to selling cars and wasn't pushy at all (everyone hates high pressure sales pitches!). He took the time to understand what we needed and what my daughter wanted. Eddie in financing made the boring necessary paperwork shuffling experience fun and entertaining. He showed us a video of Buford (the dealership's adorable bulldog mascot) learning how to skate board. He also worked hard to keep our payments within our budget. The dealership itself had a good selection of cars with a variety of options and decent prices. They offered free oil changes and tire rotations for 2 years, plus roadside service. No back and forth pressure from the sales manager. We definitely got a really great deal and walked away completely happy. The car was washed and gassed up before we drove off. Such a nice experience for our daughter's first new car! We will definitely be back. Tip: Check in to San Marcos Nissan and take advantage of $250 Buford Bucks. And if you're lucky, Buford will come by to say 'Hi!" Will update my review when it's time to visit the service department.
Today I had to drive a 2013 Ford Focus Electric to San Antonio for a client. I Googled the charging stations and made phone calls to ensure that I would be able to complete my trip. My dilemma was that I had to drive 90 miles and the range is only 76 miles. I knew that I would have to stop somewhere. I called San Marcos Nissan and after a few transfers someone (Richard?) told me that I would be able to charge the Ford at the public charging station. I verified that it was free, public and available. I showed up at 5:22 pm. Customers were parked in both charging spots in non-electric cars but a passenger in one of the cars was kind enough to move to another spot. I was very excited at the friendly reception and great service they were offering. I plugged in my car and I went across the street to do some shopping with a co-worker before heading to San Antonio. I calculated that I would want to charge for 1 hour. I realized after about 30 min that I didn't have my phone. I went back to the car to get my phone and realized that someone (presumably a dealer employee) not only had unplugged the car but had closed the power port door and both charging stations were available. I guess I would understand if there was another customer who needed to charge but it just seemed that they had unplugged the car to be petty and small. After such a great first impression, I was very disappointed and was even afraid they might vandalize my car if I left it unattended. Fail San Marcos Nissan! I almost ran out of power. I hope other customers don't have the same poor experience. I think a lot more people would consider going all electric if there was a more dependable infrastructure.
First, let me clarify that my experience happened at the San Marcos Auto Outlet, but it seems the reviews default to Nissan. With that said, I wouldn't waste your time at any of the dealerships at this outlet. I had a similar experience as someone else wrote about. I called and scheduled an appointment to see a vehicle. They called me back to confirm. When I showed up, they told me the vehicle was already sold. The salesman seemed dumbfounded. For some reason, the floor sales manager had the keys and apparently had sold the vehicle herself. No apology, just a snotty remark about them having more vehicles. I'm starting to think that this is either a scam to get people in the door, or she took the vehicle off the market for a friend or family. The entire situation was very shady. If you see a great deal listed by this outlet, I would make them guarantee that it will be on the lot and still for sale when you get there. In writing or Email. Otherwise, plan on getting duped.
