The service department is awful. The best service I got was from a salesman, and he answered the phone politely. They have had my vehicle for 7 days now and all they can tell me is that they changed the spark plugs and it doesnt seem to be the problem. No duh, I just did a tune up the week prior, and they knew that. Then they said they were going to charge me for the spark plugs that I never agreed to them installing. What a bunch of awful people. They have not called me once in 7 days. Everytime I spoke with them on the phone, it is because I called them. If anyone knows of a good mechanic in the area, your advice would be greatly appreciated as I will be moving my car from the dealership if it is not returned to me today fixed.
Brought my 05 Jeep Liberty in because it would buck at RPM's over 2k. They told me they did a diagnosis, and the result was that they would have to remove and re-machine the cylinder heads. It would only cost me $2,000. I decided to do my own investigation work, and went through many online Jeep forums. Turns out the problem was just the Crank and Camshaft Position Sensors. They only cost me $60 total, and I was able to change them in 15 minutes. This dealer was going to rip me off for $2,000 and it wouldn't even have fixed the problem. Do not trust these guys. The "service managers" make commission off how much you pay, so they will try to sell you as hard as possible.
Update: Today I received a phone call from the service manager, who apologized for the treatment I received in following review. He told me of the steps he has taken to make sure that it does not happen to anyone else and asked what he could do to make it up to me. I feel satisfied that going forward I will have a good experience with the service department at John L. Sullivan Dodge and will continue to have my car serviced there. I greatly appreciated the time and care he took to make amends. The original review is below: This review is specifically about the service department. I'm not one to complain often, but because of similar previous experiences I am writing this review. I took my 2009 Dodge vehicle in at a scheduled 8 am appointment for a 5 year warranty inspection and to be serviced. I told the service rep that I needed the car back no later than 1 pm that day and said I could reschedule the service if that was a problem. I was assured that it would be ready by 12:30 pm and had them take me by shuttle to my office about 1.5 miles away. At noon I tried to call and check the status and was sent to the service reps voice mail. At 12:30 after not receiving a call back I called again and got to speak with an other service rep who told me he would check on the car and call me back. I also asked the the shuttle come back to pick me up, still 1.5 miles away. At 1:15 pm, No call, No shuttle. I start to walk the 1.5 miles to the dealership, I have my cell phone in my hand the whole way... it does not ring. At 1:40 I arrive at the dealership and wait in line to ask about my car. About 7 minutes later I was told that my car was ready and he started to process my paperwork. I asked him about the bright red letters he had written on the work order that morning saying " Must be ready by 12:30". He told me he got busy and forgot. I then walked over the pay at the cashier, they could not find my paperwork... took about 5 more minutes, then they couldn't find my car keys. I left the dealership with my car at 2:10 pm. I give them 2 stars because the mechanic did his job. The service rep and office personnel on the other hand to stand to learn some very basic customer service skills. The new dealership building is beautiful, complete with brand new phones that apparently nobody has been trained to use, just as they didn't in the old location. It is honesty less trouble for me to drive to Swift Dodge in Davis, drop off my car and go next door and grab some lunch and come back and its ready than go the 2 miles from my house to JLS Dodge.
I have had great luck with bringing my 86 CJ7 in for smogs when I need it. They were the only ones that would do it. No one else around knew about the old Mopar fuel injection kits or what one was for that matter. So for that I will always be thankful. However, myself, my wife and my son were involved in a major accident on Colusa Hwy and Harter involving 3 vehicles on 1-3-15. Including mine, two vehicles totaled with one driver hauled away in an Ambulance. With the fire dept. still on scene pulling the lady out of her totaled truck sales person Jamie comes out to the fence and gives me his card. I was blown away. He did ask if everyone was ok first but that just does not excuse his unprofessional-ism. I am in the market for a car now and I will not be visiting JLS Dodge.
