Ordered the degustation for 2 and kids menu for 3. Bread/drinks was NOT included for kids. Had the wine pairing which came without a dessert wine. We were offered the Madeira for 15$ a glass it was very disappointing. So many great sweet wines in the region why import something bad... All up the setting was great, food only 3 out 5 stars, all a bit blend.
EXORBITANT PRICES FOR YOUR WINE EXPERIENCE I found that my visit to this winery left me disappointed. The complex is well designed and creates an air of sophistication. On the upstairs veranda are a series of photos of famous personalities that have performed concerts here. This has led to the management to charge exorbitant fees for wine tasting, food and wines. It will cost you $10 to taste any one wine, which is refunded if you purchase that bottle of wine. Our group of 5 totally bypassed this experience as we thought the fees were over the top compared to the other wineries throughout Margaret River. We did have lunch which left the 5 of us with a bill well over $300. Expensive lunch. The Restaurant did provide complimentary bread. I indulged in the Wine Flight which cost $55. The total volume of the 5 wines tasted came to 150 mls or one standard glass of wine. Once I got past the cost of my Wine Flight, I did enjoy the experience. I had the blue cheese dessert which was very tasty and enjoyable. Overall you would consider this a fine dining Restaurant with exorbitant fine dining prices. Our young male waiter, Angus, was great value and knowledgeable but was terrified of the manageress. Rightfully so as our interaction with her left us bewildered. We felt scolded for asking for a larger wine glass for my wife for her white wine. We were promptly told about the purpose of the respective glasses, which we have been well aware of for most of our adult life. Beautiful setting amongst the trees but for value for your dollar for tourists, I would recommend that you try other wineries.
We came right when they had shut down the restaurant for renovations, but they took us through a tasting! Extremely knowledgeable about the area and recommended a couple of great alternatives. Also, the wine my favourite bottle in the picture
We found this estate to be a bit over-hyped. We went for wine tasting and lunch. The woman doing our tasting was a bit unpleasant, and the wines were relatively average. If you buy a bottle, they don't let you have it with lunch, you have to pay for a separate bottle with your lunch at a 50% higher price (is that normal in AU?) For lunch, the duck was outstanding, the oysters good, and the scallops nice, if a bit dry.
