As a prospective tenant, I approached Carsons and company BEFORE the property was even listed. Right off the bat I made it clear I wanted to secure the property. Kerry a negotiator seemed keen to get the process underway until I mentioned I was in receipt of universal credit along side my salary from my teaching assistant position. Kerry quickly became " unaware of the process and requested to call me back " when I asked again she had already gotten to the reference stage with another prospective tenant. I'm sure Carson and company are aware that fielding prospective tenants and dismissing perfectly good Tenants for receiving government assistance is unlawful, as is keeping LL in the dark about updated government legislation. Alas when I asked Kerry for Carson discrimination policy, she wasn't so dismissive of my UC and questioned to total annual take home ( including UC) which was about as genuine as her other prospective tenant. All the more reason to escalate the situation. Furthermore when estate agents lie they're not so sloppy as to tell prospective tenants that less the 24 hours after the listing went live another viewed, liaised,and secured the property. ( 9am-16:00) Shame on them. This is Soulless, and completely unnecessary. one only hopes you or your family are never put in a position where someone deems you unworthy based on an outdated stereotype.
TENANTS - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Carsons are terrible at customer service, they took 20 days to answer a complaint which was regarding them trying to charge us over 1000 pounds to vacate our rental. I have spent many hours backwards and forwards trying to resolve so many issues, I would never rent off Carsons ever again, even if it was free because I'm sure they will find one way to charge me for that! Avoid!
