I visited the Waste Management Park at Smallmead on 11 May. I am a regular user of this site, it's well run and the people who work within are helpful. On this visit I carried some small electrical appliances including a coffee maker in very good state and condition. I also carried some unused items and books all in good condition. I would normally give these to a local charity but I saw that this site had a reuse scheme which I wanted to support as I strongly believe in reusing and recycling. When I took the first few items to the reuse site a gentleman there, looked at my items, and told me in a harassed tone to place them in a corner within. I collected some of the other items from the car and returned to find another gentleman there who told me in an exasperated tone that he does not want my stuff and told me to throw them away as he wants to do nothing with them. I immediately removed my items and also refused to give them even my books which I know would have been acceptable as I use good quality books for and with other charities. I saw another lady who also brought some stuff looking in good order and the gentleman similarly directed her to take them elsewhere. I will always use this waste management site as it is well organised,efficiently run and their staff are helpful. re3 however should not be asking people to use the reuse electrical etc section when it is managed by people who have neither the intention nor wherewithal to truly recycle and reuse. My coffee machine itself was in very good condition. These gentlemen clearly do not care to or are unable to Reduce,Reuse,Recycle to waste less and recycle more. I will therefore never again use this reuse section; I will just continue, as previously, donating these items to the appropriate and more deserving charities. I give a 4 star rating for the whole Smallmead site because, notwithstanding the attitude of just the reuse section, this re3 site on the whole does deserve a good rating.

Book your door in advance on the website. Well organised to help maintain social distancing. Staff helpful with what needed to go where. Rubble, plasterboard and dune other items cost to dispose - check the website!
