Jose, Thanks for taking the time to express your feedback. You've posted a one star review and we never met. I wish you would have contacted me directly and the issue would be resolved. I've been having the same concerns about my consultation. I wish you would have made the appointment and we could have discussed this in person, or, you could have emailed me directly. Our consultation fees vary based on the service being requested, and sometimes consultation fees are waived. I did offer free consultations for many years. During that time, hundreds of hours and Saturdays were sacrificed for people that had no intention of hiring a lawyer and just wanted free advice. Relatively recently, we've started to charge for consultations to see who is serious about hiring a lawyer, and applying that fee toward the retainer if they decide to hire us. I realize that there are people that I may not be able to help, but the thirty minute consult is meant to be in depth, so If really nothing can be done, the client won't go spend $5k on a lawyer who will tell them what they want to hear. My reasoning is that the client will reach a final and clear answer during the consultation and not waste their time or money somewhere else. I regularly have consultations where in the first ten minutes, it is clear I cannot help them. For those people, I refund the consultation fee because if I was better able to screen the call, they would not have paid. Obviously, I don't advertise this because I think some people would take advantage. As you can see, it's a difficult balance in trying to help people while also ensuring that people don't think our firm is a nonprofit. I am sure you value your time and understand my position. Online reviews are a very important tool for my business. Most of the reviews are left by clients who actually hired me through an entire years long process. It takes me years to get the positive reviews you see listed online. You've posted a one star review and we never met. Please contact me directly so we can discuss this matter further:

*** Wendy, nine months later I am still wondering what happened here, and I want to make it right. Please reach out to me directly. ***** Wendy, I think there is a major misunderstanding here. I want to resolve this. Your posting is coming from an account that is not recognized by my staff or I. I do not doubt you consulted me, but I have no idea who you are so that moving forward, I can ensure other clients don't feel the way you did. This is about self-improvement and constructive criticism. Please note that we routinely refund consultations where the answer is relatively straight forward, since I could not identify you, I was under the impression you were one of these refunds since you specifically mentioned your short $100 consultation. I know your desire to review my business is not about $100 that you did not see the value for, and the feedback is appreciated. As I requested originally, PLEASE email me so I can know what consultation you are referring to and so that I can resolve this matter, while also gaining additional insight from you as to how this situation could have been avoided:
[email protected]. Hi Wendy, I am really sorry for the experience you had. That is why we refunded the consultation immediately after noting the consult was very short. Phone appointments sometimes last longer which cause me to run behind schedule. I'd like to reach out to you personally -- you are absolutely right, everyone deserves proper attention, but the issue you posted was so black and white that it was hard to add more without giving you false hope, I am sorry if I told you what you didn't want to hear. Please also understand that attorneys are people too, and you reached me on a day where I was distracted with personal non-work issues. I failed to ensure all your questions were answered and I regret sounding unenthusiastic on the phone, that was not my intention! Please reach out to me at
[email protected] so we can discuss this matter further. I'd like to have your full feedback so I can learn from this experience. Again, please accept my most sincere apologies, and I really hope we can discuss this issue in more depth, as it was not representative of the service and care our clients are accustomed to. Respectfully, Ashkan.

Note: I dont see a reply button so that I could reply to the comment from Mr. Ashkan that he made after I posted my review, so that is why I am writing this here. However, Mr. Ashkan, you are talking about an immediate refund to me, and yet I have not received a single thing and I also see that this is an edited reply from you after you posted your initial reply (in which you did not mention anything about a refund). You only followed up with me after I posted this review (almost two weeks after the consultation), but by then I have contacted another firm. Then you claim you immediately refunded me. I am not sure why you are claiming this, but it is not true (unless the bank failed to transfer it to me). Please, there is no need to lie. I would not have even seen your comment but I received a notification from email about a reply to my review so I checked it out and I am baffled. I wanted to consult an experienced and well-reviewed lawyer because I was very new to the immigration process. But wow, did I have a poor experience even for the short amount of time I was in contact with this company. First of all, their short consultation was fee-based, which I happily paid because I thought it would be worth it if I was speaking to someone knowledgeable and reputable (and even though they answer negative reviews saying that they offer free consultations, I was not offered one, because I was informed right from the beginning that a scheduled consultation would be $100). But my phone consultation was canceled/delayed a few times AND I had to be the one calling to check what was happening. No one from the office reached out to me themselves, although they offered many apologies when I called. Then when I was finally able to have my consultation, sadly the attorney provided me with basic answers and discouraging attitude that I could also find online for free. I understand that at the moment, there was not much that the firm could help me with, but I was still a paying client for the consultation and yet the attorneys answers were short and clipped and did not provide me with much help or hope at all, and I had to ask a lot of questions repeatedly to get SOME information, because the attorney initiated very little conversation himself so it felt like he was trying to say as little as possible to end the phone call quickly, so he gave me a feeling like I was bothering him based on his clipped answers and unenthusiastic tone. I actually scheduled other FREE consultations after that with other firms, which were very helpful with providing encouraging, knowledgeable, and detailed advice and guidance, while being realistic and patient with me. So yes, I deeply regret paying $100 only to get very basic answers and such unenthusiastic approach. I hope that if the company sees this, instead of getting upset with me and my review or saying they dont deserve it, perhaps they can just take the sincere feedback, reflect on themselves, and give future customers more empathy and effort, even if for a single consultation for a basic issue.
