Zero stars wasn't an option... and unfortunately the 1st amendment doesn't always protect you in the eyes of the court. I also have some very choice words for a particular member of this outfit, however it's always best to leave emotion out of a review and stick with the facts. So I digress. Here are the facts. Fact # 1 - Virgil threatened to fire us as clients if we didn't upgrade our plan from $5.25sq ft to $8.00sq ft. Which evidently, U Build It had a policy change for walk out basements AFTER WE SIGNED OUR CONTRACT and they wanted more money. Fact # 2 - According to Lee, Virgil did not have the authority to make this statement. Fact # 3 - Lee denied us our money back when we approached him about what Virgil said. Fact # 4 - U Build It was fired due to the way we were being treated by Virgil. Fact # 5 - U Build It kept our money. Fact # 6 - I recommend going with a traditional contractor. Fact # 7 - U Build It kept our money, even after threatening to fire us, and after being told BY VIRGIL, that "I'll just cut your check back right now!!!!" (if we didn't upgrade to the $8.00 plan.) Fact # 8 - RUN Fact # 9 - I'm urging you to RUN Fact # 10 - Virgil, your attitude, your sighs, groans and moans, irritability, and bullying demeanor towards my wife, were unacceptable
First, let me clarify: I AM that old guy who yell's "get off my lawn". With that said, my wife and I are so totally pleased at every aspect of the final product we received from good, honest folks at UBuildIt that I had to take a moment and write this review. I was very skeptical and cautious going into this relationship based on the seemingly hard to believe promises made ...first at one of their public seminars and then again when i first met privately with Virgil and Lee in the Schertz office. We had a clear idea of what we wanted in a home but concluded we would have to significantly downsize our expectations. The UBI folks told us that not only could they build our dream home within our budget but we could get a number of extras. And ya know what, I'll be damned if they didn't deliver! We got the house we wanted, with the extras we added, for the price we agreed to on day one, at a quality standard that we love. The superintendent, Juan, did an amazing job coordinating and communicating throughout the 7 months of the project and basically made our life easy. I've been in construction for almost three decades. There's some great companies, some good companies and unfortunately some really bad. Before i signed anything with these guys, I spoke to a half dozen of their previous clients throughout the Central TX region and was told good things. Almost two years later, I am comfortable to tell anyone who's looking at using UBI, that these folks in the SA Office are one of the great companies. They made big promises on quality, schedule and communicating with us throughout.....and they kept them!
The work completed by UBuildIt was nothing short of spectacular! Linda (the general manager), Tony (sales) and the entire team was consistent, informative, accommodating, reassuring, kind and patient. Any questions, comments or concerns that my husband and I had was answered and addressed right way. The professionalism displayed throughout the process was simply amazing and not at all troublesome. I would highly recommend this business to anyone interested in making their visions of a forever home come to life.
