We booked a courtyard suite, and specifically asked when booking if there was a door between the bedroom and living room and they said "yes" so we booked it. When we arrived everything went wrong. (1) When we pulled into the parking lot a woman decided to back out of a parking space all the way to the street, forcing us to back up all the way to the street, very uncomfortable and difficult. It turned out she was part of the hotel's valet team. She could have turned the car around and went around us, causing less discomfort to us. (2) We parked finally, then unloaded our bikes and bags. There were two attendants in the lot who just watched, offering no assistance. One of them just demanded our key while our hands were full of bags and bikes. I finally realized they were not going to offer help so I asked. The attendant then helped. (3) Our room did not have a door between the bedroom and the living room as promised. We discussed with the person at the front desk she said she was so sorry but she cannot help us. My husband said that was not acceptable. Eventually we discussed with the manager and he accused us of lying, that we never asked about the door. That was unacceptable to call us liars. WE DID ASK ABOUT THE DOOR. (4) We were starving, so we went to the pool to relax and have some lunch. We ordered two pizzas from the hotel menu. The pizzas came in a carryout box with napkins and plastic forks. No plates, no knives, no peppers/cheese. In addition, we were charged for delivery, room service and a service charge. When did eating at the pool become "room charge?" Also there was no indication that this was carryout and not coming from their kitchen. (5) The pool area was a dive. The water was filthy with leaves, dirt and other debris. The dirty towel box was overflowing. It was not nice and relaxing. At this point we called a nearby hotel that had vacancies and left.
The hotels nice but the sleep quality was terrible during my stay. I was very exited after booking this weekend getaway with Hotel Healdsburg. However, there was a battery-draining smoke detector that beeped every 5-10 minutes that kept me up until the wee hours and their gardener started blowing leaves at 8AM I was barely able to sleep. Mentioned the nuisance to front desk the night-of but the issue was not resolved. Then I mentioned the problem to the front desk manager when we checked out, she wasnt even apologetic for the inconvenience caused only mentioned they are looking for the source of the noise. I was more tired after this supposedly relaxing weekend. I will not be back again and will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Youd probably have a better stay at Hotel Trio
Hotel is exceptional at being environmentally conscious! Rooms are nice too. The issue is that the street facing room that I was in had a very high level of street noisestarting at around 5amwhich will wake you up, including street cleaners, garbage trucks, buses and cars. The front desk person, Michael, said other guests had notified him of this issue before. So they know about this issue but do not resolve it (for example by providing ear plugs). Thus, we paid full price for half a nights sleep, which is not ideal.
